Feel free to correct me if I pulled any of my info off motoGP.com incorrectly. I tried to throw this together on break.

I figured, but wanted to highlight the data I had collected anyway.

If it wasn't for Stoner and Hayden it would have been a Yamaha benefit for 10 years.

Exactly..and Non Spanish. Repsol money can get Spanish talent, but it still wasn't enough to buy a championship. MM is showing promise though...heck, even the WSBK announcers have been yaking about him.

If the point is to wonder why Honda/Repsol would hire Spaniards, one would think the recent rider of that winning Yamaha would factor into the answer.

Maybe Honda seeded the clouds. If the goal was to make Stoner want to come back, a GP test cut short was a good way to do it.

Good shit.
When I look at these pix of Stoner it's interesting to visualize the difference between his riding style and MM's style. Stoner tucks his arm under on the corner MM drags his elbow. Maybe one of you computer savvy folks can post side by each Stoner + MM pics so we can analyze it further.

It would be fun to have them both in a race though...

It's probably dreaming, but if Stoner came back next year, that would make it even more interesting than it is this year (and this year seems like a good one), especially if he was running up in the front group. But, I think by next year Marquez will have put it all together, not be "just" learning like this year, and he would kick Stoner's ass. (and everyone elses)

I would imagine going fast is like working out. The fitness takes years to achieve and months to lose. It may not come back.

I don't think Stoner ever had the desire to be racing with MM. Could be part of the reason he left. Maybe not.

There's probably a lot of accuracy in that statement. MM is a quick study. Just look what he's done at tracks he's never been to before.

Casey has been known to drag his elbow (and even his shoulder) a bit.

Can you imagine anyone leaning the current Ducat over this far?!?!?

Marquez hangs off even more.

I don't think Casey is quite at 10/10ths in the Motegi photos. He only did 6 or so laps before it rained.
