Good idea.

I susbscribed for the first time this year. It is great, you get all kinds of access to practices, interviews, odd stuff and races... whenever you want!

I'm buying it again next year.

Here's a blast from the past..One of the legendary races in Oz. Willing v Hansford, Bathurst, 1974. ( They say TZ 750's, but I think 700's..)
I was there. It was epic! (Ahhh, the good old days.... )

Awesome Bootlace, brought back memories for me as well, I was there as a 13yo, it was a life changing experience for me.
I believe that clip comes from the great aussie movie Naturally Free, and is the only footage in existence of that race, and it goes into the history books as one of the all time greatest races in oz motorcycle racing history.

Awesome stuff, thanks Bootlace.

You can download youtube videos as well as stream them. Maybe an option?

What I was trying to find was the b&w still of them cresting the final hump side by side at 170mph airborne and climbing. Can't find! Bloody!
Anyway, there's a bit of Warren Willing, early days. Damn fine rider. And bloke!

I think I've got a copy of that photo in an old REVS Magazine.

I remember seeing it not that long ago and I still go when I see it.

And you were right, they were on TZ700's, if I remember correctly they were the first 2 in the country and they lapped everyone except Hannan and Toombs, I may be wrong on that though, there's been a few sleeps since then.

Thanks for the link. Funny feelings from being taken back to that era. Which probably have something to do with how dangerous it all looks.

I couldn't find the Willing-Hansford jump shot at Bathurst online either - I remember it from a Two Wheels magazine feature of the day - but here are a couple of pics to add some background on Willing.

Young gun, from the livery looks like same year as that Bathurst meeting, but a year or two after according to pic credits at motorsportretro.com, where you'll find more and bigger shots (click the expand button) and a mini-bio.

Willing leads Japanese ace Ike Takai at Bathurst in '76, acc to the pic credit at mcnews.com.au, which carries a report on the racing here.

And finally, paying the price, recovering at Coleraine Hospital after the career ending North West 200 crash in Ireland, 1979. There is a description of that disaster here. The pic was from a contemporary copy of the now long-defunct REVS magazine, scanned and posted in this thread (scroll down).

I seem to remember it being a feature of the aforementioned Bathurst jump shot that Willing's bum had lifted off the seat and his feet off the pegs as the TZ700 left the gound over the big crest near the end of then mile-long, mainly downhill Conrod straight. He was a very brave lad. It will be exciting if he can get that Duc working for Crutchlow, Spies et al.

If my memory is anything to go by The 700's had rear units (twin shocks) and the 750's were Mono Shock
Scary fast things they were and on the Mountain! - brave men indeed
