How it looks to be chasing ...

Interesting little blog from Bradley Smith post-Misano here at crash.net.

He talks about being unable to find enough drive at low-grip circuits and is able to observe that while the other Yamaha riders also complained, they were doing something much better than he was.

We look at guys such as Rossi and wonder why he can't pick up those few tenths and run with the leaders. Smith is as far behind Rossi or further and here he ponders publicly what he would have to do to close up. It's not about buying better brakes.

A taste:

"I've been studying Jorge and Valentino and they sit very still on the bike and are able to ride in one position and don't have to change that. Right now I feel I have to move round on the bike to be searching for something. All that moving around makes the machine more unsettled and there is your tenth in every single corner, which over 15 corners puts you one and a half seconds back."

I thought that Laguna Sea had a contract through 2014. Not so?

I think that is a factor. A Moto2 race looks much different than a 250 race!

Except that when there's no prop, the suspension has to be a lot more compressed:

It looked like there was some friendly competition going on, too.

Excellent interview with NH69

http://www.crash.net/motogp/intervie...yden_-_qa.html

I thought the dig on thanking Toni Elias for his championship was a bit uncalled for. Do they ask Troy Bayliss if he thanks Nicky for letting him win at Valencia by bringing it home safely in P3 to win the championship?

You have to remember that Elias did Nicky two favors in 2006: First, near the beginning of the year, he ran into Rossi in the first turn of a race (can't remember which one - Jerez?); then at the second to last race at Estoril (where Pedrosa knocked Nicky out), Elias pipped Rossi on the final straight to deny him five points (koncking him from first to second), which kept Nicky's hopes alive.

Given that, I don't think Nicky's remark was uncalled for - he has made that statement before regarding Elias's role in his winning the championship that year.

Actually nobody “let” Bayliss the win @ Valencia in 2006, he took the victory all by himself.
Damn he must´ve had a huge grin on his face after that year. Win the WSB title, and also the very last 990cc MotoGP race.
