Wow, if form equals function, those look like a great 70/30 dual sport. Kinda like a cross between the Heideau Scout and the Karoo 2. Where did you find those? They weren't even on the Metzeler homepage.

Any additional information available, like grip or tread life compared to past versions?

Given your track record with new tires and your throttle habits, I am thinking 2,500 miles tops!

Now that looks like the perfect GS tire, and coming from Metzeler, I'm hoping it wears like iron.

In other words...ENGLISH for example...

After the world premiere of the new tire enduro street Tourance Next at INTERMOT, Metzeler presents EICMA another jewel of the range 2013: 3 Karoo , tires with inserts intended for riders who like adventure and want to use their bikes for long trips off road and raid Africans. Karoo 3 fits perfectly on modern enduro large and mid-size that should be used in both on-road as off-road, just as the latest addition to the BMW R 1200 GS, which can be equipped with just the latter product measuring 120/70 R 19 at the front and nell'inedita 170/60 R 17 at the rear.
The new Karoo 3 is a very versatile product able to guarantee to all those bikers who love travel, medium and long range, a high mileage , excellent grip in off-road , a stability notch and excellent handling . All important when you consider that riders often have to travel many miles of asphalt before they reach their destination off road.
These are the main improvements of the new Karoo 3 compared to their predecessors MCE Karoo and MCE Karoo T:
- the compounds of the new Karoo 3 use components in high dispersibility able to obtain a more homogeneous compound which offers greater mechanical resistance to tearing, for the benefit of the mileage , while maintaining high damping capacity.
- The structure of polyester provides strength and flexibility at the same time because the tire is able to copy perfectly the ground unevenness in contexts for the benefit of off-road handling and traction.
As regards the design of the tread , the plugs from the trapezoidal shape presenting an innovative geometry of the dowel that ensures traction off road progressive to different bending angles. The V shape of the drawing, given by block arrangement, optimally distributes the lines of force transmitted to the ground for the benefit of more regular wear on asphalt.
The center blocks, being large, reduce their mobility in favor of greater stability even at high speeds. Furthermore, their spacing is variable from the center to the shoulder: the center the dowels more spaced ensure better penetration into the ground offering better traction in off road, on the shoulder instead of the dowels are closer to each other to ensure greater flat tire in the fold on asphalt in favor of the grip.
Karoo 3 will go on sale from spring 2013 and will replace the current models in the range and MCE Karoo MCE Karoo T. The new tire will be available in sizes: 110/80 - 19 M / C 59R TL 120/70 R 19 M / C 60T TL, 90/90 - 21 M / C 54R TL front. To the rear instead: 150/70 - 17 M / C 69R TL 170/60 R 17 M / C 72T TL 130/80 - 17 M / C 65R, 140/80 - 17 M / C 69R, 140/80 - 18 M / C 70R, 150/70 - 18 M / C 70R. All available sizes are marked with the words M + S "all season".

They look like a nice cross between a Tourance and a TKC. With the Tourance influence...they'll probably ride better on road...yet retain the traction of the TKC.

Hello Metzeler: I'd like to sign up to test these. PM me.
jdub is also in line for testing...just BEHIND me!

It's about time some fresh off-road oriented rubber comes out of the big OEMs. I'm in line for beta testing!
