Anybody been there? My wife and I are going to a 'conference' down there and we are planning on staying another week or so. We may have some plans to do a little volunteer work in Haiti if time permits. Just looking to do some research and trying not to get stuck in the tourist traps.
Advice from the collective?
Thanks

If you're interested in checking the DR out by motorcycle, then check out MotoCaribe.com. They may even be able to offer some insight as to where to go without renting their bikes.

I've been to Punta Cana. Beautiful white sand beaches, but the water doesn't get over three feet deep within 1/4 mile of the shore. Great for sunbathing, not good for snorkeling. Plus lots of topless German women . . . not like your fantasies, like 60+ year old, overweight German women.

I was there a few years back. Did a couple of days ride with a guy that rented KTM EXC's. Not Motocaribe. Was real extreme mud riding. Just super sticky clay and hard to get up the hills. Was mostly single track riding, but I don't think the guy is in business anymore. He was based out of Cabarete. Good windsurfing there. Check out the 27 waterfalls for a day trip. I
Think 27 charcos or something like that. Was a fun thing to do.
