14 F here this morning so for the first time this year I passed. However almost ended up riding after all because the cage door was froze and I thought I was never going to get it open, finally enough kicking on it it broke loose.

Yeah it was a bit nippy the last few days. The biggest thing I did was sew up some snow mobile style handle covers. I stole the idea from touratech but not the price (they want like $200.... insane). I bought a yard of gortex, some micro fleece lining, two toggle cinchers, and some plastic I found to keep the part where you insert your hands and sewed everything up. I may even put some reflective fabric on them too.

If you cannot sew I can easily send the pattern to you and you can get someone to sew them up on the cheap. I think I have $50 in mine but I have extra fabric.

SOB how much did you pay for these?

Some arsehole stole my starter button (the grey thingy with the lightning on it to fire the bike) yesterday... Now I need to start the bike with a zip tie.... and guess what, BMW only sells the whole assembly for 250€....If you find anything cheap on ebay I'm all ears =/

Ebay finds! Someone bought the BMW kit and only replaced their stator so I got the new rotor! The side case with low mileage stator is from my basket case engine and the Zumo is from an inmate.

When looking for spares you must think outside of the box. Our parts are common among many BMW models so if you need a starter button, look for almost ANY BMW switch assy. Or you can buy a fancy one HERE.

Or Darrryl listn up: you'll need to send me your home adress so that I can send you a couple of beers!

You are my new hero Reaver! Thank you very much my weird canadian friend! That is way more effective than the heist I've planned against my local BMW dealer! Love you!

Loutre... you don't want to perpetuate the cycle and thieve from someone else..... I had a 01 ZX636R that someone stole my rearsets off of once they even took the shift lever so I was completely stranded. Now 3 bikes down was a 600rr with stock rearsets. They looked very inviting but I just hauled the bike home and put my stockers back on (although if I had looser morals I would have definitely perpetuated the system).

You're right, would have probably continued with my zip tie technique until some wrecked bike would have presented itself =/ but still what kind of sob does that =/ aren't we all a big beemer famely

Whoa, luckily (or not, because some people are having water problems with it) on new models the starter switch isn't so easily removed.
But I still miss those good ol' turn signal switches...

I would have tried to get the insurance company to cover the damage, but I guess the insurance policies can vary very, very much. Luckily there's the "fancy switch" option as well.
