Some input on Downtown Denver
OK, next week I have to go to Denver for a conference (Tues-Sun)and some award thing on Friday. So I am looking for some input on a good beer place downtownish. That is walking distance!
I think we are at the Curtis. Also, need to look at riding gear, parts, un needed, at least according to wife, farkles for bike and any other input on what to do after 4 pm each day. Test drives etc.

Great Divide Brewing Company and Wynkoop Brewing Company for sure.
Flying Dog Brewing Company is also close but I don't know if they have a tasting room/pub or not. Breckenridge Brewing Company is right by there too, but it's "tasting room" is further south near Kalamath and 6th. It may have a smaller one at the brewery itself. The place off of Kalamath is worth the visit, IMO. Performance Cycle off Broadway has a ton of apparel and aftermarket accessories although they can be pricey. Their selection and customer service can make up for it. A visit is worth at least a good half-hour of browsing. Test rides? Any local dealership. |

Well the closest dealer I know to downtown proper is Erico Motorsports. I doubt I'd ever buy a bike from them but you could probably test ride something. Ducati/Moto Guzzi/Aprillia/Triumph I believe is their pedigree.

My wife and I stayed at the Curtis back in April when we were in Denver for a concert. That hotel is right across the street from the performing arts complex.
It's a weird hotel full of hipster douchebags. ![]() The restaurant at the bottom of it is pretty good though.

Fixed ;)
Rock bottom brewery on 16th street is walking distance, but pricey. Actually, anywhere with good beer is going to be pricey down town. Old Chicago has happy hour from 3 to 5 and you can get personal pizzas for a couple of bucks. Beer is expensive though. The BMW dealer on Wadsworth and colfax does test rides. |

British style pub
Pints is good if you like British style pubs. Lots of beer and Scotch choices. It may be a little bit of a walk though. I like the atmosphere much better than the chain bars.

Hey Norm,
Don't know if it's 'your cup o' tea" or not, but there's a Van Gogh exhibit at the Denver Art Museum going on now. My wife and I are going to try to go down and see it pretty soon. Hopefully there will also be a side trip to a bike shop or two while we are down in 'the big city". ![]() Are you getting an award for 'blowing shit up"? Have fun!Rob

May be getting an award for blowing shit up. I am one of the finalists for 2012 Colorado Secondary Science Teacher Award of Excellence in Education. I just know I get an expense paid trip to the National Gifted and Talented Conference in Denver for 5 days, and free tickets to a Broncos game, not my normal cheap seats either

Go to the Great Divide Taproom, on 22nd and Arapahoe (10 min walk from downtown, but worth it). It is a taproom, not a bar, so it closes earlier (8 pm on Tuesday, and 10-ish Wednesday-Saturday). No food there, although there might be a food truck outside, but they are hit or miss. Beer is excellent though.
The River North Brewery, on 24th and Blake, also has a good taproom. Their beers are mostly Belgian style, but creative and tasty.

You can walk to the Yardhouse from there, not a brew house, but they have a BIG selection
It's on 16th street mall
