If anybody is riding in from the Inland Empire (I'm in Temecula) Wednesday morning and wants company (or doesn't mind keeping me company )

I cancelled my spot in Jimmy Lewis' class....., my Mom really needs some company for a few days so I won't be there until Wednesday afternoon (I'll have to meet you fellow classmates at the rally, those who sent site numbers, I'll find you so you can pass on some sand riding tips!)

Dang, this has been a crazy 4 weeks.....really hoping that these things don't really happen in threes

1. Dog
2. My Mom needs me
3. ? Better not!!!!!

I teach 8th grade - I can take both those guys......

I would love for someone to meet us with gas. Ubehebe would be fine as that is a little over half way, and a volunteer can get there on pavement. We can pay for vehicle gas directly, or by paying $8.00 or so for gas for the bikes.

If no volunteer for Friday, I guess we could switch the ride to Saturday. Thoughts from those who signed up?
My girls will be tourists in the Scotty's / Furnace Creek area on Friday while we are riding. I'll check with them if we can put fuel cans in their truck.

Changing to Saturday is ok with me too..

Is there a place out of sight that we could stash gas Thursday night? I could drive out there and stage some if there is a pretty secure place to hide it. Looks like it is about a 80 mile each way drive, does that sound about right? Maybe somebody else could go by later and pick up the emptys. I am pretty sure my bike has the range to make the loop without a gas stop.

STRESSED
FINALLY got another day off ( tough year so far, already have 292 hours Overtime on top of the regular 12 hour shifts (all night shifts except the last 2 days)
Anyways
trailer fixed
change front sprocket
almost packed
tried to start bike, battery dead, no big deal, charged battery bike started up shut it off WTF gas leaking out overflow tube next to swing arm WTF Lior just rebuilt the carb and changed the oil
Wife comes out says looks you got a leak you need to take of
Me: Yah no Shit
Her: um yah no shit washers leaking all over the floor

Take bike off of stand kickstand lands on left foot S.O. a Biaaatch
Pound 4 beers
I think I fixed the leak on the carb by slamming the kickstand on my foot (I'm pretty sure that's not how real mechanics do it ) but a least it seems to have taken care of it for now
Washing machine leak fixed
Wife fixed ( I have an understanding wife)
3 more night shifts then a couple more days to pack shit, get food, gas, etc
Couple more beers are calling my name

Sat I am going over hunter to tea kettle the out via UbeHebe and back via pavement.

This is in the 4x4, it is listed as a ride as well on the board.

If needed I can haul gas but my plan is to leave bout 8am which means the bikes if they leave at the same time will be ahead of me by a good distance and time. If that is a non issue then i will be able to provide gas.

I am going through regardless.

Rob,

Rob,

that's a long ways, 4 hours by truck....that's just one way.

another possibility is contact the 4x4 guys if you see them at psr on wed or thursday and ask if they're heading to the hot springs on friday. most of them are really cool.

what about lizard lee? will he has fuel for sale?

It has been a trial getting my WR seat cut down. I was determined not to procrastinate so I started looking for someone to do it around the middle of Feb. I was referred to someone who does excellent work and arranged for her to do it when she was in town at the end of Feb. All set or so I thought - just before the end of Feb she had to cancel her trip to Vancouver and wouldn't be in town again until April. She recommended somebody else - they couldn't do it until this week because their foam cutter was broken. I asked if I bring it in Monday will it be done first thing Thursday. Yes, no problem. I dropped the seat off on Monday again asking if it would be ready for 9 am Thursday. Yes, no problem. So I show up at the shop promptly at 9am and guess what? Seat sitting on the workbench not started Crap, my whole day was planned on getting that seat at 9 so I could ride the bike and get the new tires installed at 10. Pick up handguards after that then gym at 1, home by 2:30, lunch, shower, nap, at work by 6 pm for the night shift. I explained this to the guy and he started on it right then and had it finished by 9:45! It looks perfect too He cut it down a lot so it's hard but I can touch the ground with both toes, no yamalink required New tires are installed, handguards bought and will be installed tomorrow then I'm good to go!

Take your time and do it right. Death Valley isn't the place to break down, unless you really want to ride on the back of Ersin's bike.
