I trust you are referring to my R1200ST that Lonestar mentioned in his post and yes, it is an amazing bike.

Too many miles (on me) and a bad back necessitated pulling the clip-ons and installing slightly higher bars but the first long trip was 3,700 miles, two up, in a little over 6 days. This trip to DV should be fun.

I see you have us down for a full-hookup rv spot - we only need a dry spot, not full hookups. No point paying $50/day if we don't need it. We're good for dry-camp for that weekend. Will free up a full-hookup for someone that needs/wants it.

RV full hook up is $30 per night. good deal imho and you get to use your bathroom, no need to drive home with grey water, etc.

ersin paid $45/night for a campground with the priviledge of sleeping on the dirt last weekend.......

Test ride is all you. I plan on riding the intermediate up stuff, but no opposed to taking in some scenery as well. The Golan steps I believe , I have to ride, I want in one of those groups. After looking on the other trips, There seems to be enough riding for all levels. Really pumped for it!

Noob (to DV) question. Which bike to bring?

Are there close trails? Am I limiting myself with my Te510's range (105 miles) or do some folks truck small bikes to trail heads? Or is that impractical since I'm guessing most trails are loops?

Was planning on bringing the Te510 but then I read about 40 mile slab runs to get to trail heads and that's just not what the Te is all about.

My other option is to bring the 950se which has a 180 mile range.

Joel - I am #9 and will be there Thurs-Sun and will be eating at the event dinners. Got a room and will be trucking in whatever I ride. Can volunteer to sweep, lend a noobie a hand or?

I ride a TE630 all over the 8 million acres of riding out there. The slab parts are really a non-issue. Get a mojave saddle bag setup and add a couple of liter bottles to the side bags. You could even stuff a couple more in a backpack. That should get you to over 150 miles which is plenty for almost everything. The loop to Saline Valley Hot Springs is about 135. So is the loop up to the Salt Trams. Or even out Mengel to Furnace Creek. Steel Pass is about the only one that is over 200 miles and most need a fuel top-up at Saline. For the few that will do that loop there will some arrangement for extra fueling.

The SE is good for some of the routes, for others it's a beast. There will be plenty of folks with bigger bikes that will be riding the easier loops and routes. My nod would go to the lighter bike, I think you'll be happier on it out there. Besides, you can only go so fast without getting pinch flat after pinch flat. Ask DannyG.
