Noah and Craig were behind us and they took this snap of the blast......they were frightened by the loud noise and rode off quickly sobbing....

[IMG][/IMG]

Just before this(as I forgot to mention) the EDC stop and take more pictures of a herd of camels en route to Taouz by their driver.
Again one of the group approaches, can't help himself and asks if camels like getting their picture taken...... I tell them indeed they do as you always see them on Christmas cards.......

The XT is perfect for this type of going....

So..after that tea in Saids house, I bid farewell.
[IMG][/IMG]

We all ride on that blacktop and arrive at Merzouga...we pull into the auberge we've used before on the LHS facing the dunes and get a price for staying. It's favourable(200Dhms per head) to all so we park up. We can only stay one night as it's booked for the next night.

Any fettling can now be done as we'd be here the next day as well. For information the fuel station is now open as you leave Merzouga,as before one had to ride to Risani to get fuel there.....speaking of which you can get money from the ATM's in Risani...there are none in Merzouga.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Once the bags are checked in etc the EDC head for the pool for a swim.......in the microbe rich soup that should be clear water..... They're told no jumping, running or diving as some one could get hurt.

Noah drives the LR into Merzouga for beer..expect to get ripped off ......€50 for two trays of cheap Morocan beer...well it is at least beer...

[IMG][/IMG]

Roof top view where those who want to play,can....when the bikes are parked up some Spanish teenagers approach the group keen and interested to hear about both our motos and our days of riding off road in the middle of the desert...........one of the group tells them all to clear off and stop being so nosey.....

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

The tri pod is set up to take a picture.... only when I bend down I then realize there's no camera...........only after an extensive search and questioning one of the group admits he ate it.......

[IMG][/IMG]

After we eat we bed down for the night....as we're right beside the sand dunes, some of the group are afraid in case a pack of desert foxes attack them during the night and eat them...... I get some soft pink blankets from reception for them to sleep with.

So......next morning we head over to another hotel along the road a short distance....

Phil rides past this scooter and snatch-steals the bag the child is carrying ......

[IMG][/IMG]

We park the motos up and unpack again.....and out comes Adam to find one of these on his moto........

[IMG][/IMG]

The AT has a broken pannier rail from the last couple of days riding so we plan to ride into Risani to get it welded.

We stop for fuel and I fill up with 19.52litres after 383kms costing 243Dhms (at 12.45Dhms/litre)

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

The dude only charged about €3 from memory...

[IMG][/IMG]

Angle iron wheel barrows.....

[IMG][/IMG]

We head back to Merzouga and I turn off onto a vast stretch of fast hard pack bound for an auberge that sits right at the border of the dunes. Some of the group are afraid to play in the sand and head back to the hotel.

[IMG][/IMG]

Ride through the entrance place if you wish......they'll serve tea whilst you enjoy the view.....

As an aside the last time I was here I used the perfect moto for dune climbing........

I have video of this. I will have to put it up on Youtube. It was quite impressive. I don't remember sobbing. Giggling i think is a better term.

I remember you saying "we have to get the feck out of here, it's going to blow!" when I rode up to check out what was going on. Then we giggled like little school girls when it blew

Laugh This RR just keep getting better.

I especially love the way you describe your riding companions' anxiety, insecurity, criminal tendencies and bad manners

I am considering riding to Morocco in the spring, and have a few questions - but I'll save them until the report is finished.

So...we get crewed up and today we're bound for Imilchil via the Todra Gorge. We stop in Risani to get money and then ride north. A couple of the group had been sick due to that 'foreign food' namely Christophe but today it was Phil's turn along with The naked KTM Dude....they were feeling very weak and without much energy.......so once we poked them and flicked their ears, off we rode at 0930hrs.....

The NKTM dude said he was afraid to ride through the Todra Gorge and he'd meet us in Midelt somewhere later.....he pulled me to one side and asked me if I had a spare pair of stockings as he'd put a ladder in his and that his nail varnish wasn't stopping the ladder......I told him Noah was the only other KTM dude and he'd definitely have a spare pair as that's what you KTM dudes are like....he rode off eagerly looking for the 690....and I just shook my head...again.

We stop at Tinihir at 1245hrs and get fuel.....

I've ridden 191.8kms (total now on speedo is 12698kms from leaving with 9701kms) and put in 7.25litres costing 90.04Dhms at 12.42Dhms/liter.

We climb up out of Tinihir ...

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Some of the group started to cry citing that they were hungry...they were given a pacifier each (red and yellow)and told to suck on that until we stopped later.....

We ride up close to the gorge entrance and stop here for food....

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

We will be seeing quite a few of these lorries loaded like this over the next few days....When I saw this I quickly rallied the group trying to pre empt mischief but I was too late.....one of them had already made a make shift bow and arrow from a branch and string and had already lit the arrow and was ready to shoot and set the hay on fire....You have to have eyes in the back of your head....

[IMG][/IMG]

Phil climbs over a wall to find a deserted garden place to lie down......the way you do when you're sick...and the rest go up to the outdoor terrace.

[IMG][/IMG]

Of course when he's feeling so poorly the first thing to do is to take his picture.....Here we can see he is proudly displaying the EDC Presidents Necklace....just in case anyone,by this stage, had forgotten...
[IMG][/IMG]

Some of the EDC flick elastics bands at him and I tell them to stop as "You'll put some ones eye out"...Honestly!!!
