Did your bike have dual springs before?

The dual springs eliminate harmonic resonance, they don't bcause they just graze one another as they move.

They also are a little weaker giving a slight bit more power (debatable).

Idle, yeh it did have them before. Thanks for clarifying what they're for.

Gunner, that's exactly what they are. Thanks for the help. I think I'd just gone too far down the spring spacer train of thought to think about any other possibility.

After rebuilding the water pump the shaft seems pretty stiff when I turn it. I've tried knocking it back out a bit so it's tight up against the circlips but it is still really tight. Is this normal? Will it loosen up a bit as it's used? I thought it might be the new seal gripping the shaft tighter than the old one did but I'm not sure.

A freshly rebuilt pump is normally quite stiff to turn...
