If your going to the Buffalo Mt area then you might as well ride up to Hillsville to the Mega Flea Market.

I was thinking more about Moles "Road", Burkes Hollow "Road", Parkway Church "Road", Rye Cove/Trot Valley "Road", and Squirrel Creek Road rather than doing the flea market thing (with attendant traffic).

Traffic jam this morning

I wandered up to Claudeville this morning and took Little Dan River Road over to Rye Cove Road, which ends here:

I guess this is the start of Trot Valley Road from the west side. Or perhaps Rye Cove turns into Trot Valley at the top of the ridge:

At the bottom of the east side of the ridge is this fork:

Where I came from:

Heading out of the woods on Trot Valley:

When I hit 58 I crossed it and took the short cut to 8 and on to Woolwine. From there I took 40 to Runnet Bag Road:

After a few miles down the BRP I cut over to Morning Dew Lane. This ATV trail/woods road comes into Morning Dew almost directly across from Rakes Millpond on the Parkway:

Sometime when I am on my 450 and I have a couple of other idiots with me I want to see if this trail connects with Woods Gap Road down off of 40. It sure looks like it when you pull Google Maps up. I have talked to the people who live at the end of Woods Gap Road down off the mountain and they seemed OK with the thought of motorcycles in their back yard. I have only gone about 300 yards down the trail off of Morning Dew on my DR, but that portion of the trail is well used by quads:

After a BLT at Tuggles Gap I moseyed on over to Buffalo Mtn. Road and then Parkway Church Road till I found my favorite sign:

Here is the low spot on Parkway Church:

And here is the little grade coming out of the creek:

After coming out on Fork Mtn. Road I took the BRP to Squirrel Spur and then Squirrel Creek Road and crossed the Dan River into Kibler Valley:

That pretty much got me back to Claudeville and then nothing but tarmac back to the Twin City.

Saturday morning ride

McDonalds at Meadowlark & Robinhood at 9:00 or BP Station at Pinnacle & 52 at 9:30? Or Shell station on 268 on the east side of Pilot Mtn (Old 52) a little after 9:30? Any of these will work.

DR650, Grey Aerostitch, silver Hornet.

Up to Claudeville to Little Dan River Rd to Rye Cove/Trot Valley to 58 to Meadows of Dan. Then various gravel/dirt roads around Buffalo Mtn. Back via Squirrel Spur, etc.

Sounds like a good ride. Is the McDonalds you are talking about meeting at this one: 3401 Robinhood Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 ? I didn't see one at the intersection of Robinhood and Meadowlark on Google Maos. I'm coming in from Greensboro.

9.00 sounds good. I'm on a green KLR and a green helmet. These forest roads shouldn't be too bad for a beast to get through? I have a Shinko 705 in the back and a Dunlop K750 in the front, and I'm running a 14 tooth sprocket.

Since you are coming from GSO, why don't you meet us at the BP at the Pinnacle exit off 52.

9:30 should be about right. I have 50/50 tires on my DR650 and stock gearing. We can see how dry things are before we commit to anything. Last weekend the stuff I rode was fine.
