Replacing Old Lowrance... with ?

I'm ready to replace my old Lowrance I-Finder, circa 1990s, with an updated unit. The I-Finder is great for most things and battery life is sufficent. ( XR400, no battery ).
However I would like to be able to set-up routes for my daily loops. Also like to exchange routes with others. What can you guys suggest.
Cabela's has a Garmin Oregon 450 for $199. and the topo map is another $99. Have read some reports of low screen visibility using batteries. Would this fill my needs or ?

I know my opinion is biased since I also use an Oregon 450, but I think it's a great GPS for $199. I have no problems with screen visibility (some users complained about the earlier Oregon 400 for not having a great screen), however you do need to be wary of screen position to ensure you're not getting glare. If you're putting it on a RAM Mount, this is completely a non-issue.

If you had the budget, you'd probably want to jump up to the Montana, but it's twice the price at $400 + accessories.

I'm happy with my Oregon on my DRZ running on batteris (and previously on my F800GS connected to USB via 12V DC adapter). My only complaint would be the screen size. Bigger is better in this case
