The Garmin 24k Topo map set I recently bought on a good black Friday sale does indeed offer routing capability. I haven't looked a all the rest, but the Northeast one does. Note the 6th bulleted item under Features: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=35411
Also, I believe that Garmin has moved over to using Navtek data for their topo map sets, according to their CS people.

Yes, you are correct on the topos. Noted and changed on previous. Thank you for the catch. Seems our typing and proofreading needed a "get together" today. Will consult with G to review data sources of the Topo for 2013 |

Thanks to All
River, Murray of Bill, and all: Thanks for the GPS advice. Will settle in on a unit in Jan and go from there.
Will visit the well-written Mr River when I hit Montana in 2014. Still working Utah and Colorado in 2013. Again, many thanks and the happiest New Year. Tom//Rider351

For me, I really want graphical real-time weather. How well does this work on the 665?
And a question about tracks... Can I set these up to record *all* track data to the SD (a la 60c series)? |

Zumo v. Montana Revival
Looking to upgrade (due to old eyes) from my Oregon, and looking for something on which I can read the maps while riding. The Oregon used to work great, but the smaller screen is getting tough.
I am mostly a street rider with some dirt, but not hardcore off road. While that might militate towards a Zumo 650-ish, I don't need/want a voice talking in my helmet (other than my own demons), and I also really prefer a unit that runs mostly on batteries where I can swap out the AAs or AAAs during the day. Does anyone have a picture comparing the two screen sizes/visibilities? And, with that criteria, would the Montana work better, as I don't think the Zumos have replaceable batteries, do they? Thanks.

The Montana has by far the better display. If you look on the New Garmin Montana thread you'll find lots of examples.

Dumb question?
Is there a thread on how the power is hooked up to the bike via the Montana amps rugged mount to a 2013 BMW f800gs. By no means do I call myself an electrician, but with proper guidance I feel I can accomplish most anything.
New to the GPS game and from what I read so far leaning towards the Montana over he Zumo.
