New Guy Introduction
Well hello all. I thought I would introduce myself and what I'm up to.
I just registered for this site as I just recently purchased my first BMW as my next project. I moved from Wisconsin to England in July and upon moving here got my next project. Well I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Its was a 1987 BMW R80RT that the previous owner thought would look great as a welded together attempt at a chopper that I'm trying to straighten out. In the back of a VW Passat Estate ![]() Condition I bought it in ![]() ![]() Half an hour later ![]() mock ups ![]() ![]() ![]() Gas Tank the bike came with ![]() ![]() Moved into new house/home for bike ![]() ![]() Got new front end ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi Sleevedoubt,
Welcome to the site and to England, I hope your getting on alright on the wrong side of the road and working with spanners not wrenches. That looks like a bit of a challenge, it is amazing what some people think looks good. A tip, if anybody says something that doesn't make sense they are either making a joke or from up north, you will get the hang of which it is. Mark

Nice! I love the tracker bars and the USD forks. What tank is that you're putting on there ( the yellow one ) and what was the mock up tank?

Thanks guys.
Yellow tank I got for £10 and is a Norton Jubilee, black tank it came with I have no idea but its gonna be my new rear cowl. Front end is Triumph yokes with Kawasaki ZX9R forks, wheel, and brakes. Yes there's a valve cover hole from where the previous owner dropped bike then it appears he tried to stick weld the hole together. I don't mind driving here in England, and I think roundabouts are better than traffic lights, I just wish my area had as many Autojumbles as it seems the north gets. Cheers Trevor |

I just need to find someone that has a R1100 rear swingarm I could borrow. I need to see if an idea would work.

This is an 1100 swinging arm in a Paralever airhead frame. You can see how far from the central line the wheel ends up.

Hmm...
If you re-lace the rear wheel how much of this can you take up? |

You could always fit a Paralever GS/R swinging arm and rear wheel but that may not be look your going for, the parts are expensive and not easy to find. Rob Farmer screwed with this post 11-24-2012 at 07:50 AM |

I love how all of these ideas I have seem to follow the path of "pain in the ass to attempt", haha
