Lost my keys and alarm button!

I'm having a really shitty week. I've got my bike apart and I broke a tank stud, and somehow yesterday or today I misplaced my keys. Can't find them anywhere. My bike is a 2004 1150 GS ADV and it has the bmw oem alarm that one of the po's installed. I can't seem to find any literature about the system in my paperwork for the bike and it seems that's the only button I have. So does anyone know how I can get a replacement key button? Do they sell this? If all else fails I guess I have to remove the alarm.

One thing after the other.

Can you contact the po from whom you purchased the bike?
Maybe he/she has another key laying around in a drawer...just waiting for your call!

Otherwise...CALL your nearest dealer...they might have dealt with this before!

Otherwise...the WET HEADS will be arriving in a few months...no greater excuse...than filling the ashtray!

Yeah I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow and may send a text over to the po. Maybe my keys will turn up but it's not looking like it.

I talked to Lone Star Bmw and they can get me a new key for 60 some odd bucks and have it programed to my alarm so no big deal there. However, I don't really need the alarm right now and want to get the thing on the road so I think I'll disconnect it. If anyone has done this and has tips it'd be much appreciated otherwise I'll post how to take it off.

Why not just ditch the stupid alarm altogether? They cause nothing but grief and 99% of people ignore them when they go off. Nobody steals Beemers anyway. Whenever I parked mine I just left the keys in it. Had over a dozen BM's and nobody bothered with them.

Be sure to look in the seat lock. I have heard Cough cough, that some people have left it there and then thought they lost the key. I have even heard that some have rode around with the key there until the next service before finding it again. That sounds like a tall story to me though.

I'll check the seat lock!

I am just removing the thing. Any suggestions?

If they were in the seat lock...don't tell us...just say "They fell from the sky!".
We'll understand.

If they were in the IGNITION...you'd have to confess that one.

This never works but my wife always asks when I lose something.

Where did you put them last? Go there and they should be there.

lost keys

I once left mine in a saddlebag lock. Easy find after 2 months of looking. On a shelf in the garage, waiting for the next trip.Glad I have one spare.... Ken

Unfortunately I couldn't find my damn keys anywhere, I would love to find out I left them in the case or by the seat, but no. I went ahead and disconnected the alarm and it wasn't that bad.
Basically you unlpug it from the harnesses, follow where those harnesses go, one goes under where the alternator cover is, remove that section then replace it with section that went into the alarm, then you just follow around a bunch of harnesses and follow them all around until you end up with one little wire which you need to put back into the main harness.

That sounds confusing and I meant to take pictures of the whole thing but I blew it. It's really a lot easier then it sounds. Once you start taking stuff apart it becomes pretty apparent. When you end up with three wires that you don't know what to do with just consult this thread http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252790
