New Year Gathering

Monday 31st Dec-Tuesday 1st January

NSW. Micalong Creek recreation area, approx 8kms south of Wee Jasper.

Relaxed shaded camping on grass beside the cool flowing creek. Swimming holes, water dragons. Onsite toilets, water. Camping fee payable directly to the ranger who will collect. Bins are not provided, so you are responsible for the removal of any rubbish. Food and fuel is NOT available at Wee Jasper.

Last year we rolled in at lunch-time on the 1st - and most people had already buggered off.

Hi guys,

I am looking at this, can the missus on a sports bike get in there OK? She is well used to riding small sections of nice dirt road, but anything long or gnarly would be a problem.

easy as you could get, very good sort road about 10kms. watch out for incoming fourbies etc. very popular area that time of year

From memory about 8km of good dirt, but with some tightish turns and a few ups and downs.
Last year there was a shorter lady on a big Suz road-bike that trowelled it and snapped off a footpeg bracket that made everything else (gearshift, etc) too hard and needed a trailer out.
You know her bike and capabilities; suggest you leave her under a tree at the end of the bitumen and do a recce-run to see for yourself - all it takes is one good storm and any dirt road can become challenging for someone not used to it.
