OK!! I have a mc-camping compromise. Carrying everything I need on the bike is probably not in the cards. I tried the small tent thing and it sucked trying to sleep on the ground.

So, I bought this truck tent and tried it last weekend over at Potts Mountain, and it was absolutely perfect. Karma too! I ran into another ADVrider doing the same thing (PatrickinVA), with the exact same year and model of bike. What a coincidence.

Anyway, this will allow me to extend my range a little to explore some new territory, sleep comfortably...and carry lots of creature comforts, i.e., food, beer, ice, lantern, wood, water, blankets, pillows, etc., etc....Ahhh yeah...roughin' it smoothly. I plan to do a lot of this.

Good deal glad you enjoied the camping . Looks like a nice set-up, how long does it take to set the tent and is it easier to pitch than a ground tent?
Now you have one less reason to miss the next ADV event.
It is birthday season for me (kids all happened about the same time of year) once that is over I will catch you for a ride.

Great! Looking fwd to it.

The tent probably takes a little longer to set up than a small ground tent, but I don't have to crawl around on my knees and I don't have to sleep on the ground. I took my time, reading the directions and all, the first time, so it took me over an hour. But now that I know how it all goes together, I think 20 minutes ought to be enough time to set it up.

I was really comfortable, and slept very well. Also, it withstood a lot of rain last Saturday night. I was completely dry, so that gives me a lot of confidence in it also. Let's ride asap!

I took a ride up north this past week-end.I stayed Friday night at Cox Campground in Great Capon West VA.

Then I took Detour road on my way to Green Ridge State Park in MD.

View from Green Ridge Road.

I saw some of the Polish Hill climb which I knew nothing about until I got to the closed road.

Then heade north . I got lost in Buchanon State Forest in PA.

Then it was off to the Woodsmens Festival at Cherry Springs State Park in northern PA.Were I caught up with a few other guys to do some riding.

If you head north I might be able to sneak out after lunch on Saturday ride a little and camp ride a little then head to the RTE.

What is "the RTE"?

I haven't decided exactly where I'm going yet, but all of my potential choices are "north" of Moneta.

I would really like to explore that Reddish Knob area and I noticed the Richmond guys use a campground called, uh...I think... "North River Campground"? So...I am looking in that direction, but I'm open for suggestion.

Is that too far north for ya? Or, maybe you could give me some other ideas.

I loved my campsite over at The Pines..(near New Castle).

I might be heading here (Sugar Grove, WV) at the invite of B.E.Coyote:

Otherwise, probably somewhere over there west of Staunton.

If I don't see ya, say hi to Denis for me. I enjoyed every bit of his trip thread.
