Correct. Should look like this:

There's one that says "Triple Protection" on it. I've never looked into it, but I imagine it has some different additives

The syn I use is this:

As far as I know, the filters on all KLR 650s are the same.

HiFloFiltro part #123

Check this out as well. The important part is not losing the pin in the filter and making sure you re-insert it properly.

Give me a buzz if you need any help with anything. Email goes to my phone which I have most of the time.

This is what you want, 5w-40 T6 Synthetic.

I've been using T6 in all my bikes for 8 years.

I use Rotella T Triple Protection, 15w-40 in my truck.

filters

KN 123, HN 123, Parts Unlimited K150037 I like the K&N even if they cost more 5.50 vrs 3.00 everything runs cooler with synthetic oil in it also motorcycle oils have more zinc in them that automotive oils zinc greatly reduces wear. hope the weather gives you a break so you can get out and enjoy the new ride.

Ok Gents. I'm in need of brake pads front and rear and a rear tail light.

Where do you guys recommend I get these kinds of things?

I'd really like to install a cigarette light as well to keep my phone charged.

If you're looking to buy OEM, Ron Ayers.
http://www.ronayers.com/ . Use the Parts look-up.

The Thumper Talk store has OEM and aftermarket.
http://https://www.thumpertalk.com/shop/

I've also bought aftermarket stuff from Jake Wilson.

Or Alan, aka AB13, can probably fix you up.

I got a cig lighter socket from Ace Hardware. It had alligator clips on it that I cut off, added wire to it, and wired it to the battery. Put an in-line fuse in the wire if you do this.

Wow, front and rear? What's the mileage?

I haven't done pads yet but I like HT and will probably buy the Galfers when the time comes: http://www.happy-trail.com/Departmen...s-/Brakes.aspx

EM has EBC as well. Don't know the differences, but EagleMike is great: http://www.eaglemike.com/EBC-brake-pads-ebc-bp.htm

This is what I have on mine. It's jury rigged, but it's zip-tied to the handlebar. Works for me.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I picked it up with +/- 13,020. I've put a something like 30+ on it.

Mava, the yahoo at Kerr Tire failed the inspection because the front break was very worn and the rear would be less than acceptable soon. Not to mention my buddy somehow managed to melt the right rear turn signal. It still works mind you, all be it a bit gnarled.

Right now I've got Continentals mounted. The front is great but the rear is about worn out so I'll be replacing those this spring as well. I'm dying for some panniers but I can't see the wife going for $1,000+ right now.

Should be ordering breaks, oil filter, turn signal and the lighter plug today or tomorrow.

When do you guys typically start your riding season? Mava I know you ride every day.
