Question which tyres?

Currently running Dunlop 605's on my '94 KLE500 and like them a lot for what I do, but want better mileage out of the rear (5000km and nearing time for replacement).

Heidenau K60 Scout or Mefo Explorer are what I'm thinking.

Think of the KLE as being in the same bracket as KLR650/DR650/XR650 and other similar bikes.

Opinions please.

Mitas E07 front and rear, or Mitas rear, Pirelli MT21 front. What oil do you use?

May I refer you to THIS POST that refers you to answers for the most commonly asked questions of what, where and how much?

P.S. 70,000+km on E07's fitted to KLE500 - tyre of choice...

Cheers
Ian

I wish... - the hilarious thing about this is that prior to having to do its first roadworthy for registration in NSW, the bike had covered 84000km and was on its 10th rear tyre, fifth front tyre and fourth chain and sprockets

Klr 650 with Heidenau's

I had the Heidenaus on my KLR 650 which saw 90% road use, they lasted 10,000 for the rear and front still had plenty of meat left. I am now trying out the Pirelli MT60's (the other option was the Mitas E07s).
The Heidenaus were OK off road in dry conditions and passable in low speed wet off road, terrible in sand (or was that just me??)
Absolutley faultless on the tarmac, stuck to the picked line like a road bike.
Cheers

Done the 606 and MT21 on my previous KLR650, didn't like them on tar. (thanks GSD4ME)

Guys,
Feel free to have a go at me for asking a tyre question......but everybody posts up about knobbies and I don't want f#cking knobbies.

I'm trying to find something more "in between".

Hopefully someone who has some knowledge of the tyres I'm thinking of will reply.

However, moderators, if you feel my thread is out of line feel free to nuke the whole thing.

BTW, I'm looking for Australian related tyre stock, not OS stuff (we don't get the same tyres or prices here- and I'm not really interested in price yet anyway).

Thanks,
Ock.

I use round black rubber ones on my S10!

That is all I have to say on the matter!

I don`t know how expensive the Mefo is, but I know the K60 is not cheap-at least on my 1100GS. If you are a true KLR rider, you may find the E07 is a good choice.
