Greg, Do you think that with Infinity coming on board with Lotus this will keep Kimi in the team? I'm sure it will be a boost to the team and I'd love to see Kimi with a strong package. But this also got me thinking that with all of this I wonder why Allison left Lotus. I'm sure he knew this was going to happen and yet he still chose to leave..

hmmm
really hard to say
I think, when it comes to Kimi, he pretty much does as he pleases. He likes to win, so as long as they have improvements this year and it looks like they can be competitive next year, he'll stay... but

What are the rules for the young driver test? Is it a disguised new parts/aero test? If so, I guess that hurts a little bit. Other than that, pathetic. A full test session was a huge advantage for Mercedes. They should at least suffer a points deduction.

I gathered it wasn't so much the overall budget, as it was how the team was planning to prioritize spending. Could be wrong, tho.

It means that they'll have to try and squeeze Lauda into the car instead.

What next year's Renault will sound like. Flatulent. No more screaming engines.

That sounds like crap. The drop in revs is noticeable immediately. Thumbs down

If the cars are as quick as before, this will sound plenty impressive from trackside. We will look back on today's motors as making a lot of unnecessary fuss.

Thanks for the link.

Not so sure. IndyCar changed their engine and it sounds similar, not very exciting. It hurts the spectacle.

Quieting F1.
Great.
Next we need to find a way to quiet Top-Fuelers. Way to loud.

Looks like the young driver test is a full three day test, new parts and everything. The only catch is the drivers. And the Silverstone weather. (My old school is within earshot of the tack, occasionally in the distance we'd hear a car running.)

Mercedes tried to disguise that they were using Hamilton and Rosberg by giving them black helmets instead of their normal colors. I can't believe that with such clear intent to deceive that they only got a mild punishment. The Beeb was speculating that Charlie Whiting may be in jeopardy because, as I understand it, although he gave Mercedes accurate advice when asked about a test, he never followed through and essentially allowed it to happen through lack of supervision.

Sort of like the asshats at Road Atlanta making bikes conform to noise standards, but not all the cars have to!!!!
