It will be interesting to see what difference the tyre compound changes make to the likes of Mercedes and Red bull, two of the teams adversely affected by degradation in high temperature races.

The forecast I've seen is for 40 deg C air and 50 deg C track on Sunday.

Before the compound changes those conditions would have benefited the likes of Lotus.

I guess we'll have to wait until the race to find out, we know that Free Practice and even qualifying this season rarely gives an accurate indication of race pace.

Has Lewis been working out, or what? The two others at the qualifying interview table looked positively skinny compared to him. Lewis used to have a slight build, but seems to have bulked up this season...

Driving with flat tires does that.

A good mix of cars at the front of the grid. They're hinting that the Mercedes may wear out its tires early, a nervous car. We shall see. Hard circuit to pass on, so let's hope Hamilton can keep Vettel behind him. But the Red Bull has unleashed some fine starts this season, might do so again. Unbelievably, Vettel has never won here, despite the track seemingly being a Red Bull track.

Sometimes I hate Directv.
I came home tonight looking forward to watching qualifying and my DVR missed it. Formula1 seemed to be missing from the program's Hungarian title somehow.

I learned a long time ago to Never take anything for granted with Direct TV.

For years it never recorded Speed Center or else it recorded all 30 showings of NASCAR TODAY.

To quote annoying Seb, "That's what i'm talking about!".

Finally Lotus left Kimi out, instead of pulling him for tires and giving up position, and what do you know, he finished ahead of Vettel.

Good race. Plenty of action, not a bad result for the championship.

Okay. I'll admit that I was hoping that Grosjean would get frustrated behind Vettel and take him out but only because it would have been even better for the championship.

I wish someone would. Piece in the Guardian on-line this morning about Red Bulls ascendency beyond just winning in F1.

It might get worse. Alonso's management has been seen visiting Christian Horner. Horner when asked if Alonso is interested in Webber's seat was equivocal.

The whole story
Abad later assured reporters that he had talked to Red Bull principal Christian Horner about rising Spanish prospect and Red Bull young driver Carlos Sainz junior, son of the former world rally champion.

Excellent win for Hamilton and Mercedes. The talk about a tire-chewing car turned out to be wrong.

I simply could not believe Vettel's whining when he failed to make a late pass on Kimi: "He didn't give me enough room!" No kidding, you spoiled little twat. Man, is he easy to dislike.

People moan about tires, but the truth is that different tire strategies is what made this race interesting. Passing is always at a premium in Hungary and if everyone had followed the same strategy it would have been a processional.

Myself, I was hoping the Red Bulls would blow up in the heat. It's really surprising that they don't win on a track which really seems to favor their car.

Is it too soon to call this Ferrari a dog? They keep slipping backwards. Somewhere in Maranello there's a deficit of talent.

I'd love to see it. Throw a hand grenade into their whole operation.
