Replacement exhaust

We have a 1986 R65. The exhaust system seems functional, however, I'd like to get rid of the so called front muffler unit and run new headers with a balance pipe back to the existing mufflers. Are there any recommendations of sources? A PO used spray paint on the headers to dress them up I guesssssssss....I suppose I could have the original headers re-chromed.....but by-passing the "front muffler" is the real issue.
