PA Historical Markers
I was thinking about this wonderful state that I call home, and all the history here. Taking a cue from the West Virginia Inmates, I thought it would be cool to have a thread showing the historical markers to be found around the state.
Now, I certainly don't expect that we will get them all any time soon, as there are over 2000 scattered around the state. Nor does a motorcycle have to be in the picture, as there are some that you can not (legally) get a bike next to. Hell, I don't even care if they are file photos. However, I would like it if you can post GPS coordinates for the signs, or good directions on where it is for the technologically challenged. Trust me on this, the official PA website does not have them all right. (PA Historical Marker Spreadsheet) Here are a couple to start it off. Columbia, PA (N40 01.900 W76 30.487) ![]() Three Mile Island (N40 09.162 W76 43.044)

skyclad,
The PA Historical Musem Commision sells a book with pictures and a bit of information about each of the markers. I do a lot of driving for work all over the state and thought it would be cool to visit each one. You gave me some incentive to get started. |

I hope the book is better than the website.

Are you looking for the blue signs specifically? I was at a "historic" cemetery last weekend, but by the brown sign I think it was under Raccoon's jurisdiction.

Re: McGees Mills covered bridge
Mark_O, when you took the photo of the marker at the covered bridge , did you intentionally crop off the top of the marker

This one's not hard to find, I don't have the Lat/Long.
This is across from the old Lumberville General Store/ Post office (now closed) along River Rd. That bridge in the background is a foot bridge crossing into NJ. ![]() the General Store (before PO closed) ![]() another one along River Rd
