the only downside to it is that it is not free standing.. so you need to be able to stake it down to make it work.. this will not be a problem 99% of the time..However, some experienced travelers like a free standing tent in order to facilitate roadside camping at places like churches or other facilities where you can sometimes throw a tent down on a cement slab. I have personally never been to a place where I couldnt get a staked tent to work, even out west in the desert, but some folks insist on a free standing tent. if worse comes to worst you can use rocks or other heavy objects to hold out the tall end.. wrap some chord around a rock and guy it out.

Yup, good score, Jerry. I do prefer a free standing tent, but you can always use the bike to anchor one end and then just have to worry about staking the other.

Nice find Jerry. I just ordered this one for my solo excursions. Super light and packs down really small. Luxurious compared to a bivie.

I have to get something else too. I got a small square tent (just over 6' square) at Walmart last year that is ok, but my cot doesn't really fit into it. It packs up fairly small, but it's just not for me. If anyone needs a small tent, I'll let it go for like $20. It's just not made for a giant like me on a 6'6" cot.

I am aiming for next weekend.. I have cancelled my knee surgery, it has been feeling much better, so next weekend is looking pretty good.

knee surgery? did I miss something?

and Rob, you will probably want a moderately small + light tent for the Roaming Rally.. Like a 2-3 person tent well under 10 pounds.. You don't need some solo ultralight tent when you're on a bike in my opinion... The tent you hauled up for the Big Bike Adventure ride in MA last year was a beast!

thought I mentioned it somewhere.. just a bum knee.. arthritis in both knees but a partially torn meniscus in the left one that got real bad a couple of weeks ago. Would wake me up in the middle of the night. Despite what the DR said I started trying to run on it again, and went heavy on the bicycle trainer, and that seems to have stabilized things. I had gotten pretty lazy through Dec, Jan, Feb and I think after 23 years of Marine life my knees just need to be active. I am eventually going to need surgery, and some day,,hopefully 30 years from now, I will need knee replacements.
