Hola from Alamos, Sonora, Mexico

We're taking a day off from riding to chill here in Alamos, Sonora. This is our hotel. Beautiful here, it's one of Mexico's Pueblos Magicos. A preserved gold mining town with fabulous mansions from the 18th and 19th centuries. We've spent 5 days riding south from Douglas, Az through the Rio Sonora valley and the foothills of the Sierra Madre. We'll head further south to El Fuerte tommorrow.

Figures someone here would know exactly what it was. That's awesome!! Looks like that guy can ride too.. I thought he was dead at 3:47 but it was just a tail whip I guess? Looks crazy from the helmet cam POV.. I may have to take a closer look at the house that's for sale less than a mile from there and under $100K. I'm not seriously looking to buy a house but I really should be...

Mr and Mrs RhodeTrip! Goddamn those TW's get around! I realize you didn't ride them to Mexico but even on a trailer those are two of the more well travelled 200cc bikes out there! Get some more photos for us here in cold and wet New England!! "I'm Jealous" would be an understatement! Although I should have a work trip to Maui in a few weeks with a few extra days to bum around the island.. I'm already looking at bike rental options out there...

Hint.. the family also operates this business locally, http://www.xpromx.com/services.html, so getting some work done may be your ticket in..

ANyway here is Billy, the property owner's son on the pictured above track..

They rebuilt my 5-valve WRF head- awesome work.

Yeah, we trailered down to the Arizona border, and then rode into Agua Prieta, Mx from there. I guess we're about 600 or so miles south of the border now. I have had a hard time uploading photos because I've only got an android tablet with me, but here's a few.

This is what they call a "vado" instead of a bridge, the water flows over the road. Water levels are low now...they would be wild when the rivers are high

We spent 2 nights in Banamichi at the Los Arcos hotel

Owned by an inmate, it's not to shabby. Coolest of all, he owns a TW...and a Triumph Tiger.

One of the towns we passed through is Arizpe, where there is this great old church ...one of many we've visited

Beautiful inside

Buried in the floor is Juan Batista de Anza, local hero and the founder of the city of San Francisco

Ola Tripps, and it looks like some new gear as well? and new country. I was headed your way today but I only got a bit past Westerly. Maybe tomorrow. Thanks for giving us something to dream about. Carry on.

Thanks, lilolita and tdub. Mrs Trip is sporting her new xmas riding jacket, and yours truly got a spiffy new helmet from Santa. That's it for new gear. No, that's right, I also picked up a rotopax gas can for insurance. Here's yesterday's update...it was a great ride though some backcountry dirt roads...really remote little pueblos...after a fancy breakfast.

the picture of the guy buried in the floor is really interesting. do you suppose he was put there right after he died, and everyone could watch him slowly decompose?
