I think what happens is that the fuel filter gets blocked so the pump has to work harder to pressurize the fuel and is then prone to overheating - drive any electric motor too hard and it will overheat.

So I agree that replacing the pump and filter assembly will probably fix the problem but if you can get a separate new filter that is likely the root cause.

I also did that and it worked for me...

The Highflow after market pump has a hole in the same location and it looks like that is fitted in from the back side. Maybe a pressure relief valve ? Not sure. It appears to be ported. hmmm??

You got to have a blow off for excessive pressure back to tank. So that makes sense.

I have decided to go with the external filter route. Does anyone have a part number for a filter that is 10 micron rated I can pick up at a local auto parts store?

Welp, this is what I came up with for now. Extra filter I had laying around for my old 1100. Will test this week sometime and let ya'll know how goes it.
