Surly calls and asks if I wanna go find some single track and get some pics of the bikes in the air? WTF, sure lets go.
We head out of Helena to go to pipestone pass via, 399 and 90.
We roll into the pipestone area and find some guys on real dirt bikes unloading, they give us some funny looks and state that with all the rain of late we should stick to the jeep trails and avoid all trails that are marked bikes only some have been washed out. ya right.:evil

We see a jeep track, turn left and roll over this nice ramp vs. getting off and opening a gate. thanks USFS.

A bit further down the trail is fun and is only getting better.

Then we see this, and I’m sure its way over rated.

A bit further down we find some more excitement.

We made it down no issues but had to look at the next section before riding it, here is how it looked.

As we were scouting the line some quads came up behind us and then turned around, not real inspireing.

Here is how grau looked going down
    [IMG]

The next turn after the rocks looked OK, here is Surly about to go down through the next turn.

Just as Surly went down 3 dirt bikes rolled up and were rather concerned that we were riding our much larger bikes in such terrain. After they rolled by the two of us we now had some Tracks to see what lines they were taking, no real help there.
The next surprise flaunted this sign.

How it looked from a few different angles.

Surly taking the best lines we could find.

Grau and I taking the same hill/
    [IMG]

Surly crossing the steam I fell in.

A few more easy hills and we would be close to a fire road.

A nice little lake to cool our tire down in. Notice Surlys’ new SLR/Digital, very nice.

Great trails and pics -- looks like a great ride. A bit too much for the Katoom 950, but would be fun on the 450EXC!

What the hell you talking about man, I thought everyone was saying those 950 KTM's were better than my little GS.:rofl
I thought one of the rules was don't talk about fall club
As I told the dirt bikers who rolled up on us, you haven't watched us fall yet... only 1-2 falls each for the day, not too bad.
relatively large bikes? Niether bike is a goldwing but how much bigger do you want?:D
Hey don't confuse us for anything other than amatures, skill 0 / stupidity 7
hey man thats not a nice thing to say:1drink
no dents but a turn signal did pay the ultimate price, Sorry Surly, but you opened the door
    [IMG]
No reading / comprehension skills and no guide or clue what we were doing is more like it.

To the rest thanks, the pics were few and the exploring grand.
