This KLR doesn't 'suck in HP', it blows HP.
![]() I'd guess 75 HP at the wheel? |

It Does Not
A few thoughts...If you baught a KLR to go fast you did not reasearch your bike. The KLR does exactly what it is suposed to do and does it well. Can you make a KLR faster, Yes....Why would you? I would not haul wood with a Corvette...Its the wrong tool for the job, by a truck.... Same thing goes for the KLR. If you want to go fast get a fast bike.

I can ride my KLR up to 89MPH as indicated on GPS, but I don't like to ride that fast. Hell. I don't even like riding my F800GS that fast. But I had to do ride that fast to keep up with my friend, who can be a speed demon at times when he wants to get somewhere in a hurry. I usually slow him down for both of our safety. I thought my KLR was a dog, and it was. But I recently re-jetted the carb and realize it was a dog from the factory. (bought it new in 98) It's so much more responsive and perky now. And don't flame me for using the word perky please. I love my KLR. Just like everyone else loves their whatever brand bike. Now let's shut up and go riding! |

These (above) are the compromises made for cost and street-ability. And they can only be overcome to the point where you should buy a different bike. some electrons were mildly inconvenienced in the sending of this message

I have. And I see where youre going, however the idea is completely different.
My stable: 2006 KTM 525 plated for linking trails/Colorado singletrack/BigBend/Baja etc. 2005 KTM 950adv for solo travel, commuting, gravel roads, and day trips w the wife 1995 DR200 for the wife and pit duty at the races 2008 KTM 300xc race bike enduro/harescrambles 1978 BMW R100S passed down from my grandfather. Currently being restored as a "rider" for heirloom duty. A tool for every job, with the 950 as the catch-all bike. Could a KLR/Vstrom/Etc fill the same role? Of course. But not with the same smile on my face, or as much daylight under the front tire. some electrons were mildly inconvenienced in the sending of this message
