Moving to Portland in February
I will be moving to Hillsboro in February and will be leaving in July. I want to bring my bike to ride some trails up there. I also will be looking for a room to rent for the time I am up there and a place for my bike.
I live in Phoenix, AZ and ride single track. |

sorry you have to deal with the crappy part of the seasons..june, when you are leaving, is when the riding starts to really open up, unless you like mud and rain.
Here in the willamette valley we sometimes get a short period of wonderful warm springlike weather in Feb.maybe 10 days to 2 wks., then back to rain and cold until approaching spring. good rain gear,,duddint madder.

Does most of the riding shut down in the cold months or can you still ride if you want to?
I will still need to find a place to live for the 5 months I am there. If anyone has any leads on a room for me to rent for Feb-July that would be great. It would be great to ride on wet dirt and not wait months for rain to come. I will be needing rain gear so what works good for the area? azdirtclods screwed with this post 12-02-2012 at 08:13 AM Reason: reword |

Contact local inmate easy-z, he has experience living in Hillsburitto, his advice would be worth a couple beers for sure.

I was holding off on posting this but I'll have a bedroom available: 3br/2br/2 car garage in February. The problem is that this house is in Vancouver and quite a ways from Hillsboro. With that said, I know someone that commutes daily to his job from Vancouver to Hillsboro and back and there might be some carpooling opportunity involved.

At age 14 my family moved from Tucson to the west side of Portland. For the first couple months I was ready to slit my wrists but then I saw Mt Hood from the Rose Garden, rode Brown's and Lee's camp and took a trip over the dry side to stay @ Sunriver. This winter should be warm and fairly moist if the predictions are correct. We rode sat. and sunday over here (Bend) and the dirt was/is perfect right now.

raingear
Frogg Toggs seem to work well. Rains until the end of May sometimes.
Got space, got garage, p.m. sent. Guaterider and Luisa stayed with us last summer, was a good time! That B&B idea is not bad at all!
