1,000 thanks to you both!

ABuck99, you fellas survived the worst September weather I've seen in these parts in all the years I've lived in the northern Rockies, and y'all oughtta be proud.

Gorgeous photos, too ... esp. the one with Yours Truly

20 miles of highway ... Gone!

Further explorations this fall in the wildlands of the Rocky Mountain West -- in this case, to cleanse HoW of 20 miles of US highway that made an important connection -- have reaped stunning rewards: Grand vistas to the east of one snowy Rocky Mountain range, and to the west of another.

Oh my heck ... Those miles of wind-swept highway ... Gone!

Heart of the West ADV Route travelers in 2014 shall find this instead of that:

Tony, My 2 brother-in-laws and a couple of friends will be doing your route next August or early September. I'll contact you soon to let you know what our timeframe is to get your suggestions and purchase your tracks and expertise. Your posts are a tantalizing reminder of what we have in store for us. Keep them coming

Thanks -- Scott

Welcome aboard, Scott!

As Mr. Eakins notes (Thanks, Bill!), H.o.W. is continually being improved. So you'll benefit from the latest on-the-ground research (including the expanding list of lodgings, if they're of interest), as well as real-time reports on road conditions, wildfires, weather impacts ... and upgrades to the route itself.

And as always, I'm available 24/7 to do what it takes to help you have a terrific trip ...

Tony, I just tried to email you directly at your gmail address from your blog but it said it didn't exist. I then resent it via the email link through ADVrider and it seemed to go through but if you don't get it let me know.

Thanks again...Scott

Friend here.

After seeing the photos and ride reports, I am excited about doing the trip. I've got a few months to mod up the trusty KLR, and I can't wait. I'm sure the other guys feel the same way.

And a nice pic of your most awesome OP who came out to meet us- donning "I "heart" Idaho" Potato Pins. Tony = the fellow with the bandana on his head.

3 Yanks, 1 Confederate, a POM, & an Aussie- what a crew

Anyone considering this route is in for a ride experience of a lifetime. Tony has this very well planned out mile by mile. It can be done on bikes in 10-12 days if conditions are perfect (weather & mechanical). Its not a particularly difficult route, which gives the rider a chance to simply take in some of the most breathtaking scenery the West has to offer via motorcycle. Best of all you wont see too many people.

We will be putting up a ride report soon, so stay tuned.
