I just spoke with the BLM ...

... and an update -- not a reroute -- should be in your email inbox.

Forecast there is for sun sun sun, and warm temps, beginning Thursday.

Just over two weeks to departure now…..

Last minute prep and buying sprees abound in our little group. Folks are frantically trying to complete the work on their desks, benches and bikes in anticipation of a fun, challenging two weeks on the HOTW. Days off don't exist until I leave now.

Last minute buys no kidding. The more I read the more I think I need. Then I go back and look at what Mr. Minimalist, pinevalley took, and I realize I don't need anything else. But currently I'm chilling down in the Texas hill country, smoking a Romeo Y Julieta 125th anniversary. One of a handful I have left. And a knob creek watching a beautiful sunset and deer about. About 3 weeks till our departure.

At this point I'm more worried about making it all fit and less about what I "forgot". . As I told my group the other day...my wallet is closed for repair

Fuel - Shelter - Water, I'm good to go!

Oh yes. I've got a worrying large pile of stuff amassed now, and I am mostly focused on whittling it down to something manageable.

T minus 1 week!

Three of us are leaving Wed night and staying in Reno, riding to Wendover on Thurs.

The other two are spending an extra night with their families and going to "ironbutt it" ~630 miles to Wendover.

Just got my 12k mile service done and TKC80/Mitas E07 Dakars installed.

Can'tfrigginwait

Bike looks ready for sure. Have you done a "practice packing" to make sure everything fits? I know I'm going to have to eliminate some stuff. I'll try packing everything next week and see what needs to go. We're pulling out in two weeks. Looks like a two day drive, one day to prep bikes at the hotel, and then the trail. You guys travel safe.

I highly recommend the "practice packing" - something I did not do well. I'd even go as far as a "practice overnight" if you can swing it.

I ended up forgetting some critical straps and twice mailed a package(s) home.

However, relax and enjoy. There are places to pick up what you forgot and plenty of places to mail the extra crap home. Remember...this is your vacation.

I posted my pack list here if it helps:

Oh yeah, I'm actually mostly packed right now. Side cases and top case.

This was a few days ago, putting things into piles..
