I should have skipped Mongolia and gone with you!! That sounds like a good tone!! I can't wait to get back to the States and have a glass of Bulleit...

Oh yes. I've got a worrying large pile of stuff amassed now, and I am mostly focused on whittling it down to something manageable.

T minus 1 week!

Three of us are leaving Wed night and staying in Reno, riding to Wendover on Thurs.

The other two are spending an extra night with their families and going to "ironbutt it" ~630 miles to Wendover.

Just got my 12k mile service done and TKC80/Mitas E07 Dakars installed.

Can'tfrigginwait

Bike looks ready for sure. Have you done a "practice packing" to make sure everything fits? I know I'm going to have to eliminate some stuff. I'll try packing everything next week and see what needs to go. We're pulling out in two weeks. Looks like a two day drive, one day to prep bikes at the hotel, and then the trail. You guys travel safe.

I highly recommend the "practice packing" - something I did not do well. I'd even go as far as a "practice overnight" if you can swing it.

I ended up forgetting some critical straps and twice mailed a package(s) home.

However, relax and enjoy. There are places to pick up what you forgot and plenty of places to mail the extra crap home. Remember...this is your vacation.

I posted my pack list here if it helps:

Oh yeah, I'm actually mostly packed right now. Side cases and top case.

This was a few days ago, putting things into piles..

Oh.. and this is my packing method for each day's worth of clothes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Untr17W9pw

Put the rolls in Rick Steves Packing Cubes. Can fit 3 days in a single cube.
We're all packing a total of 5 days.

Oh.. and for food, I'm not only packing some Mountain House meals, but also some Soylent.

http://www.soylent.me. Good stuff.

My packing list looks more like Klinquist than pinevally's. I have way more dried camping food stuff however. Like Klinquist, much of my stuff still has tags on them, so i haven't tested the new items yet. Many of my small dry bags are made by Glad though.

Tiger should be a nice ride on this trip. I really love the Triumph triples (me a Tiger 1050 and Street Triple R), and Triumph hit a grand slam with the 800.

You're seriously bringing 5 sets of longjohns?

Don't forget a down sweater and some camp shoes.

Wool socks can be washed out and worn again. Cotton is out.

Wendover's getting hammered with rain right now, according to this weather site.

I destroyed a brand-new all-terrain tire, and bent a rim, on my 4Runner on a route-inspection run just a few days ago, after a spell of dry and warm weather. Without a spare tire/wheel, I had to terminate and head to town.

Hope to try again tomorrow, Saturday, 8/23 ... but I do hate not having a spare tire out there.

Hunkered down in a dumpy motel in Ely, NV, sitting out the storm for tonight. KLR parked outside the door of the room next door, but no sign of human life yet ...

I've been checking AccuWeather.com for the past week. The salt flats, DNM, Rangely areas getting hammered. Glad I'm not riding for 2 weeks, but whatever, bring it on.
