The economy hasn't helped us at all. Money is tight, some of us folks can't afford to race a full series. Some of those that can could be out if they wreck hard because there is no "B" bike.
Fewer racers= less interest
Less interest= lower viewers
less viewers= less coverage
less coverage= less sponsorship
less sponsorship= less money
It sucks all the way around for the 2 wheel industry.

speedtv starting it's downward spiral when it changed from speed channel. Funny, you would think that DMG, with it's pull in nascar, would be able to do a deal with fox, which must have a thing for nascar since it's keeping that type of coverage. Makes you wonder, does DMG really care about motorcycle racing anymore? might just be losing favor since the idea of bringing in outside sponsorship has failed miserably and there doesn't seem to be any answers coming from anyone.
Does any think DMG will ditch AMA roadracing? I do, I think that roadracing will soon become that red-headed bastard stepchild, and the higher-ups are gonna axe it instead of dumping money into it. We'll see what kind of crowd shows up for the daytona 200, that might be the nail in the coffin.

I am very excited about the prospect of Regis Philbin appearing daily. Bound to be some groundbreaking interviews coming out of that.

Maybe 5% of what shows up to watch Supercross. The 200 attendance has been sparse for years.

Crowds will be low as usual (although I will be there as usual). I haven't seen a decent crowd at the 200 for 15 or more years. Frankly, the whole week at the Speedway is ruined to me. There used to be CCS on the first weekend, vintage Monday-Wednesday then the big boys came in and started Thursday through the 200 on Sunday with the Supercross Saturday. Whether anyone liked each of these individual activities there was still a lot of bike stuff to stay busy with.

The Supercross being the first weekend may pull more fans (and is certainly easier on the Speedway not having it and the 200 the same weekend). I think they are just happy pulling a regional weekend crowd at this point and arent concerned about drawing fans for the whole week anymore (or just can't).

According to the hotels, the Harley crowd will be bigger this year - they normally don't come for the racing anyway. Guess I will see what it holds next week.

The 636cc machine sits on the World SuperSport winning chassis fitted with new Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) suspension, a 700-gram lighter aluminum slipper clutch, new Nissin Radial-Mount Monobloc calipers, and Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) for 2013.

“Kawasaki has a strong racing heritage,” said Racing Senior Manager Reid Nordin. “Our Ninja brand is synonymous with success on the track. When we brought back the 636cc engine we knew there would be interest in racing and we have taken the steps necessary to have the new Ninja ZX-6R on the track and out front in 2013.”

The ZX-6R will be eligible in the Daytona SportBike and SuperSport classes for the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing series and can also be raced in several dozen different classes of the WERA, CCS, AFM, MRA, CVMA, CMRA and UtahSBA championships. In other words, the 636cc Ninja ZX-6R is the perfect choice for everything from recreational trackday rides and amateur club racing to pursuit of a national championship. AMA Pro Road Racing will kick off at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 14, 2013."

With 2 of 11 rounds TBA and no TV or any kind of broadcast package, I fear the season is on shaky ground.
