Thanks for the link, those numbers are pretty pathetic. I'd rather pay for a mc racing internet feed than see these series flounder chasing a mainstream tv deal.

Anyone know if/when the Laguna Seca AMA races will be telecast? I still don't know the results and have been avoiding all the likely places that would have them.

TIA

and BTW...

Moscow Race 1 (Race 2 was cancelled)

A bizarrely entertaining race. Some amazing racecraft on display.

Official announcement on Laguna AMA Broadcasts:
http://www.amaproracing.com/rr/news/index.cfm?cid=57472

Quote:
The AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike and AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike races from last weekend's Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will be featured as part of the CBS Sports Spectacular in a three-hour primetime special on CBS Sports Network beginning Friday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT).

The back-to-back GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing broadcasts will kick off with GoPro Daytona SportBike at 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT), followed by National Guard SuperBike at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT) and will conclude with a sneak preview of the weekend's racing to come. The weekend preview show for the Miller Motorsports Park round will be aired for the first time in primetime on Friday, August 2 at 9:00 p.m. ET (6:00 p.m. PT).

The AMA TV listings still don't show anything for the final round at Laguna with WSBK or the XR1200 races from Indy. Grrrrr.

Man the AMA is fooked.

No end-of-season TV: According to @AMAProSBK, the SuperBike, Daytona SportBike and Harley-Davidson classes competing as part of the @sbk_official event @Mazda Raceway September 27-29 will not be televised "due to unresolvable complications in the production arrangements for the event."

"We came into this with the sole intent of improving the sport of motorcycle road racing in North America, and AMA Pro Racing has been a great partner," said Chet Burks, president of Chet Burks Productions in a press release. "Despite the best efforts of all involved, the unexpected contractual and financial elements that have arisen for this event aren't feasible. We really regret that this is happening, but we simply can't come up with the funds we need to purchase production for this event."

Just don't even know what to say about such a huge fuck up on the TV deal.

It's the teams and SCRAMP that are screwed. SCRAMP is Laguna. They promote their own events.

I suspect the DMG effort is still profit proof. Hence these on going issues...

Just, what is the point of putting on races in 2013 without broadcasting them?

Irrelevant and obsolete are words that come to mind.

I will be able to catch up on last week's WSS race this weekend and watch BSB live if I choose to do so. If not, I can catch the video later.

They still haven't broadcast the Laguna Moto GP weekend DMG races, have they?

They did broadcast the Laguna DSB and Superbike races on CBS Sports. It took a couple of weeks but they finally did it. All AMA races from that weekend are available on the AMA website (via YouTube) http://www.amaprolive.com/rr/dvr/

Its just ridiculous that they announced a TV package with wording about broadcasting races live (Superbike) or same day (DSB) "through 2014" and it was a lie because they knew all along they weren't going to broadcast even the whole 2013 schedule. I thought they were getting their act together with some of the live streaming and then the delayed, archived races on YouTube but obviously those were just distractions from the real problem, as usual.

I don't see how the series can survive without TV.

It is ominous for the series. Although, they didn't say anything about 2014.

But, seriously, it makes as much sense as saying they made new episodes of Downton Abbey/Breaking Bad/Boardwalk Empire/insert your favorite tv show or movie, but they won't be broadcasted.

This version says more about plans for 2014.

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2013/Sep/130906notev.htm

But, still, it is hard to take the series seriously in any way as of right now.

Here is an excerpt from the original release on the "new" tv package:
Quote:
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 23, 2013) CBS Sports Network and AMA Pro Racing, in conjunction with Chet Burks Productions, announced today a television agreement to showcase GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing as part of the Network's CBS Sports Spectacular series. CBS Sports Network will air flag-to-flag race coverage of the premier National Guard SuperBike and GoPro Daytona SportBike classes through the 2014 season.
http://www.amaproracing.com/rr/news/index.cfm?cid=56223

This really gives the reader the impression that all races will be televised. They never mention that either Laguna round was an exception.

That's because they didn't realize the Laguna rounds were owned by Dorna!

"...they are already working with us on the plans to provide an even better television broadcast package for the 2014 season."

given this years experience, that won't be hard to top.
