In Madison, Wisconsin Dec. 12-16

I'll be in Madison, Wi from Dec. 12 through the 16th visiting friends.

What are the ' should see while you're there' regards bike shops, car shops etc.?

What about museums etc?

Thanks!

I put together this list of just a few things for somebody on ST.N who is visiting over the next several days. Feel free to borrow from it heavily :)

Food/Drink:
Eldorado Grill (Williamson St)
Sardine (Williamson St)
La Brioche True Food (University Ave)
Ale Asylum (new building isn't yet open for brewery tours, but they have lots of beer and I hear good food - near the airport/east side)
Harvest (more upscale, but excellent - on the Capital square)

Things to do:
Mustard Museum (Middleton - it doesn't take itself seriously, but you can taste a ridiculous amount of mustards and then take them home at excellent prices)
Tour the New Glarus Brewery (New Glarus, WI - 3 tastings for $3.50 or a pint for only $6 - both include a nice, free New Glarus Brewery glass)
Buy a bunch of good cheese (Fromagination - on the Capital square)
Walk down State Street, buy things
Go to the Babcock Hall Dairy Store (check the website for hours, but the ice cream and cheese is made fresh, on-site at the University of Wisconsin - Babcock Hall) - http://babcockhalldairystore.wisc.edu/

Any decent bike/car shops or museums?

Coffee/beer meets?

No good bike/car museums that I know of. And as to the coffee meet question, I'm not sure. I've not actually met any of the ADV folks in the area myself yet since I'm not in Madison often.

I would add Capitol Brewery in Middleton and the Great Dane Brewery off the square and I think you can get fresh cheese curds at Babcock Dairy on Wednesdays' very squeeky.

If it matters, all the cows at the UW dairy are on rbgh so the ice cream and cheese, while delicious, don't make it to my house.

Many good suggestions in prior posts. Pick up an issue of Isthmus, the local alt newspaper, fresh on Thursday, many listings of events, bands, etc.

Wasn't aware of the rbgh. Won't be buying that anymore - thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks again for all the suggestions!

Ended up doing State Street tour, the Great Dane Brewey (excellent), The Ale Asylum (very good),

Bought some great cheese after a 'heated' debate with my buddy (Wis. v. Ont. cheese)

Toured the Wisconsin Vet museum on the square. Very nicely done, informative, with great displays (no charge!)

Kitty cornered over to the History museum, fairly dry stuff for my taste, but some interesting displays just the same.

Dinner at the Tornado Room. Superb, in the way that style of restaurant is. Cocktails at the bar, chatting up the gals, followed by a kick-ass steak and a bottle (or 2) of Cali-cab

Nicely refurbed airport, literally two minutes from stepping in the building to get through security. I love small airports.

I like the Tornado room. Nice little sit down spot outside in the summers, too.

There is the National Motorcycle Museum in Animosa, Iowa. Couple few hour ride through some of the nicest hills around. I've been wanting to make a trip out there for a while
