Oh yeah! Riding out in front for a while then taking naps in meadows with grande vistas; worked great last year! Those snow numbers are pretty big, I assume so will be the mosquito count!

Hey there Al! Was think of you when I ran across this video yesterday. Looking forward to riding with you again this year. Getting the KLR ready. Swapped the carb to a Mikuni VM38 direct pull with nothing else better to do.

Hope you like the new carb! Yeah, way back in time that K Code stuff was all there was for riding tech; I went to some of his stuff at Laguna in '83, hard to believe that was 30 years ago! Thanks for the linky.

I have penciled in this ride, it fits in between our Aug track days schedule, so seems doable! Working through sched details with Hells Al Gal; she won't ride this, but might be in the area anyways (possibly with an RV), which would be cool.

I'm working on plans to site my motorhome near Kamiah for a month or two beginning the end of July.
Pencil me in for the ride and any pre-runs or assorted fun.

I live about 60 miles down stream of Kamiah. Stay in touch if you want to get together for some fun. Are you staying at the Lewis-Clark Resort?

I'll probably ride over that way in the in the next few weeks to do some scouting. I'm thinking somewhere in the Lewiston-Grangeville-Orifino triangle would give me plenty of options for day trippin'. I stopped at Lewis and Clark Resort for breakfast once and it seemed pretty noisey.

Have dates been detemined for the 2012 Best of Montana 1000 ride yet? I just checked the first post to see if it has been updated but there wasn't anything there.

Timmer, what's the scoop?

Timmer set the date in msg #54:
" Here's are firm dates for everyone's planning (no change from earlier):

Start in Kamiah, ID on Sunday 8/11 - Finish in Elk City, ID Saturday 8/17

The above is subject to forest and weather conditions."

You would really enjoy this ride. Hope you can make it. I am planning a camp/fishing trip in the Wallace south country the week before the Hells Canyon Gathering with my son (Spokane) on my KLRs. I may be able to catch the HCG after if all works out.

I just found out that the Magruder road will have some closures this Aug. for culvert replacement.

It will be closed Aug. 5-9 and again on Aug. 12-16. These will be on the east side. It will be closed at Magruder Crossing from Aug. 26-Sept 6.

Hmm, that might have an effect on the routing. We would be doing the Magruder on Saturday, 8/17, the day after the proposed closing.

Right now especially, Hells Gate State park in Lewiston is good, nice and warm nights, taxi service and most places that deliver food will deliver there. Quiet, nearest road is across the Snake river.

Hmm, we will have to keep an ear open on the "M" route. I can think of a pretty good alternate up through the Sapphires from the Battlefield to Skalkaho then up to Lolo and back thata way.
