Klim aquired by Polaris

I thought this was interesting. I hope that Polaris will do right by the brand. I've been very pleased with Klim gear.

Edit: looks like I forgot a "c" in the subject line. Acquired ;)

Just another sellout

We'll see how it works out, i'm not optimistic. Small company sells out to the larger company, so tired of crap like this. One more local company to scratch off the list for purchases.

Unless I'm mistaken, none of it is manufactured here.

I sure hope the brand stays the same. I've had my pants rebuilt a couple of times when I burn huge holes in them with my chainsaw. It's a 3 day turn around for repairs. Awesome customer service as well.

The guy built a high-end brand out of nothing and convinced many of us to spend $2000 for a jacket and pant! That's pretty amazing, since his market was dirt.

He sold his baby and made his money. Bravo.

The company was started and is based in Idaho. At the price of their gear it better be made here.

My gloves say China
My Dakar pants say China
My goretex sox say China

I guess that could be China, Idaho, but they left the state name out.

There is almost zero riding wear made in the USA.

The above link is internet info, so take it for what it's worth, but I believe Klim is made in China. I've seen this other places too, but don't remember where.

Well, bummer. Didn't know that...might as well shop Walmart. I was thinking about buying their gear, even though it's out of my budget, to support an Idaho company.

For US made stuff, you are buying Aerostich. AFAIK, other than some custom leather guys, that's about it.
There is a guy in Vancouver BC that is doing some one off stuff, but it looks sketchy (non YKK zippers, cheapish velcro).

Dunno.
