FYI for those servicing their linked ABS brakes
I've been doing my own brake circuit/ABS unit fluid flush annually for my '04 GS since I bought it.
(I have a home-made funnel that works nicely for the ABS unit and I figured that if I did the whole procedure once a year, I would lessen the chance of the system taking a crap on me.) Anyway, did the job last night and got an ABS fault when I took it for a test ride. After swearing and looking like a fool in front of my 9-year old, I got to seeing what went wrong. Everything looked good as usual but I thought that I might have left a little too much fluid in one one of the ABS unit reservoirs. I sucked some out with a tube, put everything back together and the fault did not show-up. I wanted to share this in case anyone runs into trouble. I know you can get faults with too little fluid but I was not aware that you can get one with just a tad too much. Anyway, I thought I would pass this on. |

Thanks for the tip!
Are these BMW's not the wierdest bikes ever? My K bike does a similar thing with oil level in the oil tank. Warning too high or too low oil. Then the bastard insist on rubbing it in by switching the display back to the oil check screen for a Huundred miles or so after the fault is fixed.

Update:
I removed the entire P.O.S. servo system from my bike http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=849837 so no more complicated servicing for me! |
