SOG, I just copied you with an email I sent to Pancho (Frank Cummings). He has extensive knowledge of Mexico, including the Biosphere area. He won't be around on Thursday when you get here but he might be able to give you some pointers via email.

My reading tells me there is a toll road after the Pharr bridge I want to take to Mex 97. Clearly marked? Impossible to find? I read one report where a group missed it and ended up at the maquiladoras. I don't like cities anywhere and will be happy to avoid as much traffic filled snarl as I can.

That would be about right. The Pharr bridge is specific for that purpose. Its not a big deal. Signs should be obvious. It's really convenient.

Be sure to ride around very slowly in Jaumave and scan the tops
of the huge pecan trees for guacamayas. Have a camara with considerable telephoto power to bring them in and spend an hour or two looking The large parrots, guacamayas , can be spotted up there , fantastic to see such beautifully coloured birds living freely. Last week when we came through Jaumave we counted trees with up to 16 parrots .... Splendid ! |

Thanks, sjoerd. . I don't own a camera but I am looking for my mini binoculars. Good catch!
Update: Nephew 2 has a real DL. I have managed to have Cartographia E32 maps loaded on my Zumo 550. I have managed to delete the entire North America NT from my Zumo 550. Cannot get it to re-install as I do not have an un-lock code/whatever. Perfect!! I have installed mini-ape hangers (Adventurer's Workshop giantass risers). The bars now tap my aftermarket huge windshield at full-lock and make it virtually un-rideable while seated. Perfect!! Things are progressing nicely.

Further update. Talked to Terrapinneck. He put his quarters into the Bicimapas interweb vending machine but no candy fell down.
![]() Perfect!! Everything is right on schedule.

Well, I got the previous version of BiciMapas on my Zumo 665 so we'll have that until I turn back. Might even download the new version before Thursday.
If one of y'all have a Zumo that's compatible (660, 665) we can simply swap units before I turn north. Pretty sure I can find my way home.

JD. I bought an extra license from Cartografia for Nephew 1's 60CSX so we'll have two with Mex maps after you split off even if Rick can't get his "candy".

Jeez. It just dawned on me that my brand new land only passport card might not mesh that well with my desired medJETassist policy. Might shoulda seen the word "jet".
Email sent. What a maroon.
