CDR - Colorado only - suggestions?

My buddy and a few of his friends are doing the complete CDR sometime in late July/early Aug. I have a week off and wanted to join them on the Colorado portion. Trying to figure out the logistics of trailering out there, riding the section in CO, then hooking back up with trailer for ride home - I live in St. Louis. Any suggestions on logical start, stop points - with the idea I will be doing probably half of this on my own as I either park in middle and ride up to meet them and then ride back to trailer on my own at end. Thinking 5 or 6 days of total riding - one day on front end to get there and one day on back end to drive back.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

You can leave a vehicle in Rawlins, WY. Contact the police department. They have a designated parking area that they patrol.http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=603076

If possible, stretch this ride to Cuba, NM - which ever direction you're doing it.
The Cuba to CO section is very, very nice.
One of the better ones, imo.
