So does everyone think that a midget like me 5'8" 30" inseam will be thrashing about in mid air with my feet at a stop?

Cause I like the idea and desire light weight bikes with good hp.

You'd be alright. My friend sat on one a couple weeks ago at the local bike show and she is only 5'-4" and she felt ok with it.
Specifications say 835mm (32.9in) seat height so she must have long legs for her height.

We'll need pics! Not of the Duke. Of the 5'4" chick with the 32" inseam!

You didn't read the link? It is a detailed review. 330 lbs. wet - full tank. KTM specs say 325 lbs. wet. Take your pick.

We shot some pics with my wife, Neena on the 690. She is a 5'6" novice rider, she said she felt very comfortable on it. Here is an outtake pic

Review says 330 lbs. but does not say if that is with or without fuel.

KTM specs says approx. 149.5 kg without fuel (149.5 kg = approx. 329 lbs.).

http://www.ktm.com/us/naked-bike/690...l#.UTEJVD_TnaM

14 liters of fuel = approx. 3.7 us gallons at approx. 6 lbs. per us gallon = approx. 22 lbs.

329 plus 22 = 351 lbs. (approx.) wet.

But, who knows?

My bad - you're correct. However, to put it in the general ball park:

2013 KTM Duke 690 352 lbs. wet 67 hp 67 Nm
2013 Kawi Ninja 300R 378 lbs. wet 38 hp 27 Nm
2013 Honda CB500F 423 lbs. wet 47 hp 43 Nm (European specs)

Something tells me that the 690 will do just fine! More expensive, but I think the increased performance will be worth the price of entry. Folks in the EU and Australia seem to have good reports so far. I'll just upgrade the suspension and be very happy!

[Note: Pre-production specs: 2014 KTM Duke 390 324 lbs. wet 44 hp 35 Nm - the source of the misquoted weight in my post above - sorry. Also, 50 lbs. lighter than the 300R; 100 lbs. lighter than the CB500F.]

I agree, it should be a fun ride, can't wait to try one out if I can find a dealer with a demo.

I have a 2010 690, and it is a fantastic motorcycle. Unlike the '13, it has fully adjustable suspension, but only 65HP. It weighs 327lbs dry so the '13 must weigh about the same. I hope they fixed it so the bike can be ridden below 3000rpm, The 653cc bike bucks like a PBR ride. My KTM dealer told me that the '13 was coming but without the exotic items mine has, to cut the price by around $2k. I will look at it but can't imagine giving up the extras I have for 5HP. tomp dd50
