I hope they fixed it so the bike can be ridden below 3000rpm, The 653cc bike bucks like a PBR ride. My KTM dealer told me that the '13 was coming but without the exotic items mine has, to cut the price by around $2k. I will look at it but can't imagine giving up the extras I have for 5HP. tomp dd50
I'm in the same boat. I'm keep'n my 10". I think the extra horse comes from CC's they have move it to 690, stroked it! I've fooled with the gearing some. Puts a Big O Grin on every time I get on it!

Can you fill us in on what your bike has that the new ones don't? I'd like to understand what I'm missing, and maybe plan to fill some of the gaps.

Thanks.

The suspension on the '10 is fully adjustable WP's, front and rear. Chilly's report mentions some stability issues from the rear, in rougher turns. No movement from mine. KTM changed the brand of wheels lowering the cost, more. On the silly side, the 10 has an aluminum? alloy kickstand that resembles the design of the swing arm. The new bikes have a round stand like most other motorcycles. Told you that it was silly, but the cost difference has to be there, too.

The seat on mine has a longer rider seating area, enabling the rider to slide forward and back easily, to allow for different positions when riding. The newer model has a flatter yet more formed seat that doesn't allow for movement on the seat, similar to a cruiser saddle style seat.

These item changes probably will make little difference to 90% of 2013 buyers and not affect the ride or enjoyment, but were necessary to lower the retail and make the bike more competitive in the marketplace.

One good thing about the 13, chilly didn't mention having the bad bucking ride at or below 3K RPM, and that alone would make that bike more rideable and enjoyable than mine, in urban situations.

There is an entire thread on the 2010 Duke 690 (654cc). Go read it. The new Duke 690 (2012 in EU) isn't in the United States yet. Some comments about the new bike from EU and from Australia are here and also on the older thread.

Mine is getting one Duke and one 690 Enduro R this year. The Enduro is coming in April and the Duke in June. I'm first call on the Enduro, but would still keep my Duke, if the Enduro comes home with me.

I plunked my money down - my 2013 Duke is coming sometime mid-May.

I put 38,000 on my '07 690SM so I'm hoping to use this one for everything.

Anyone have an idea on handguards? I don't want to run the KTM brands. Something stronger like Acerbis Multiplo or equivalent anyone?

Went to my dealer to discuss the Enduro R coming in and he said that he had sold it sight unseen for cash, to a walk in. They still have a '13 500EXC and though it's street legal, it's not the one I wanted. Guess I'll just keep the Duke and stay on road a while longer. Damn shame, too...tp dd50

HDB - Highway Dirt Bikes - Paul's gear is expensive, but worth it.

I've had trouble getting hand guards to fit due to the Magura master cylinders on the 2010. They are not parallel to the bars on either side. Any will have to be bent out and around the master cylinders. I currently have HDB Paul's on my XC-W and ROX's that won't. Maybe someone has found a fix. I'd like to know.
