Wondering if the start podium has been modified for max air and moved back from a corner this year and if there is more brodie room for some sweet donuts

Could this be the "no more donuts on the highway into town" clause?

Uncle Etienne seems to have included a new rule in this years book... for just that reason;

29P4 CREWS’ CODE
1) General

a) Competitors and Crews must behave with respect both on the route and with regard to:
authorities and citizens in the countries that are travelled through;
other Competitors / Riders;
the Organisers.
Any impoliteness which is proven will be subject to a penalty of €500.

b) Any incorrect, fraudulent or unsporting action carried out before or during the Event by the Competitor or members of the Crew will be judged by the Sporting Stewards, who may impose a penalty which can go as far as Disqualification or allow an organiser to refuse the entry of the incriminated Competitor(s) or to refuse them the start.
c) It is forbidden to leave wheels and/or punctured or damaged tyres on the itinerary of the route. Any Competitor caught disobeying this rule will be penalised €1,000 per tyre or wheel. Repeat offending will result in penalties up to and including Disqualification.

d) For safety reasons, during the Rally, it is strictly prohibited to realise demonstrations with the Vehicle: burn, show, dangerous manoeuvre, etc. in the Public Zones.

first off he has the euros IF they fine him... Secondly, Aso must pay attention to best in the desert racing series as this is a big Casey Folks pet peeve (he makes everyone mark their rims ..

and thirdly it is a hummer body on RG stadium truck..

Remember RG's "circle work" below the freeway overpass bridge - heading into the finish at Lima last year, and the video that hit the web shortly after?

Well rumour has it that ASO recieved a letter from fairly high up in the grapevine as a result of that; along the lines of "do not let this happen again" or paragraphs to that effect.

I think Etienne - as much as anyone - realizes the drawcard that RG's antics afford... but they have to "cover their asses" from the legal/regulation standpoint as well.

We could all see from his facial expressions the last couple of years, during the start and finish podium proceedings, that Lavigne (begrudgingly) gave the "thumbs up" for RG's podium jump (due to a lot of crowd and announcer pressure). But just imagine the sling his butt would be in, if it for some reason should go "€%&! up"...?

The "podium jump" is one thing... the "donuts" in front of the crowd (behind those flimsy crowd control stands?). What if a CV or something let go in "mid rotation" and 4000-something pounds of Hummer spears into the crowd (who were only a couple of meters away on occassion).

As said before, the "powers that be" made the call, ASO had to be seen to do something... else the start (and especially finish) liasons could develop into a "free for all". Let's face it, even Chicherit got in on the action last year... if left unchecked, how many would be tempted to do same?
