Love it, i am a firm believer of not buying a new bike. Because there is so much you can do to improve it to modern spec.

Like my ktm I can buy a 2013 spec frame off ebay for 800usd a swing arm for 400usd, a new 2013 300 cylinder for 800 and suspension for 1500usd. That is cheaper than a new bike even if you don't sell the old parts.

But than again my friends think i am insane

I was even specing out a KTM swingarm to put into the Suzuki, and could easily have made it work, but decided to just stop at the engine. But this winter I will put new forks on it and a different shock, just to improve the suspenders.

And just so you know, this build cost me $2000. It would have cost more then that to just rebuild the old gutless TS engine.

The thing that I am lucky with is that the TS has a dual piston front brake. If it was a single, I would have been a little leary about my stopping power with this new power plant, cause those corners come up alot faster now then they did before

By the time you are done upgrading your bike, you will have a modern masterpiece![

And you can pick and choose the best parts for your bike from all the different bikes available. They call it an frankenbike, i call it enginuity.

You are exactly right, I can piece it to my style. And I can build it, making it truly my bike. Being up here in the North, you have to know how to fix your ride. I now know this bike inside and out, and at least have half a chance to get out of the bush if I have a malfunction at the junction.

But more then anything, it now goes like stink

I have a saying if you can't afford it, make it your self. I know thats not always possible, but when you try to do everything yourself you save a lot of money and you know your bike.

By this time i know my bike so well i can identify faults while riding and the on site "hacks" to fix them. luckey ktm motors are plenty reliable.

hi new guy just made my 04 250 exc road legal people tell me i will blow it going down roads looks like you do it all the time. Gearing? just cant be tapped out like any other typ of bike?

Just make sure your jetting, fuel mix ratio, and gearing is right and you are good to go. If I am rising hwy (100 km/h plus) I am running 14/41. For all the other times I am running 13/41. My friend on his KTM 300 is running 15/52 for hwy runs and 14/52 for local dirt ripping. For me the 14/41 on the hwy is great, very smooth and puts me in the bottom end of 5th. There is stil a ton of jam left if I need to pass.

Have fun with it on the road. Personally I enjoy it a ton, but that is just me ;)

Thanks ill just have to see how it gos i getting back in to riding and i can't aford to go to MX parks 25$ 40$ a day and im just not that good..

im hopping now that i can head down the road i can find something to do
