another unique spot many miss is red mtn open space http://www.larimer.org/naturalresour...d_mountain.cfm due north of fort collins. what's unique is you would think you were riding in the red colored canyons of utah or western colorado and not the front range. it's closed in the winter and i'm not sure where the gate is locked, but the out and back ride is worth it when it open back up in the spring (or late fall) and the mtns are still snowed in.

No havn't been there. I wonder if it is on the Gunneryrange. The army uses lots of the area as gunnery range for Ft. Carson. Usually I support the military, however, not this time. They have not been decent custodians of what they have, but they want to annex more ranches through the Emminant Domain laws. Their reason, what they have is no longer safe to use, they have no idea what unexploded ordinance is there, or how much. Seems like when I first lerned to shoot, one big rule was to count, and account for every round fired. But they have no idea how many rounds or where, or how many exploded and how many didn't, so therefore, they want more land to do the same. In an already crowded country, with land use battles raging all over, they want to make more of it totally unusable, forever?
