cold start on KTM 350 exc
Hi, I have a new KTM 350 exc-f and can not start it in cold weather.
45 50 degrees and it starts right up. 20 degrees and it will not start even on a downhill. About 12 hours on it. I bought it to ride in the mountains. How do I fix it for cold weather starts? Thanks texroc |

Not sure about KTM's but on my Sherco you can reset the fuel brain by turning on the key and then slowly rolling the throttle out to the stop and back 2 times , turn the key back off and on again then with the throttle completey closed try starting it never using any throttle , FI bikes should never need any throttle to start .

I had a similar issue with my 350. Pulling the small fuel filter out cured it. I added an inline filer (I think 20 micron?) to replace it.

What is the oil weight? Might have 20-50 in it instead of light winter blend.Maybe just not turning over fast enough.

Hi All, Oil is 10- 50. Will try the fuel filter trick. Just turned the idle speed up a little.
I live in North central Texas and will have to wait for a cold spell to try it. I really bought this thing so I could ride it in the mountains, I love the mountains! Am feeling very uneasy bout going up high till I get this thing figured out. I appreciate all suggestions. |

Filtro
http://cameronsoftware.com/blog/blog...rg-motorcycle/
Here's a good link that explains the inline filter options. I have the Napa 3095. Finally solved a season's worth of poor starts at the local hare scramble series with my '12 xc-f. For what it's worth, I yanked the puny inline filter that comes with the bike altogether. Also installed a filter sock at the gas tank. Problem solved and bike now runs awesome. |

KTM stuff
Hope so!
Trouble is I have to wait for the next cold spell to find out. I might break down and head for the Mountains, the easy part is it doesn't take much arm twisting to get me headed west. Milo |

little more stuff
I'm good friends with the people that own the local locker plant. I asked Richard if I could put my bike in the cooler for a few days, while he was trying to think of what to say Rosemary said loud and clear NO.
Colorado would be much better anyways. Milo |
