HoosierDaddy & yzf shakedown ride

Today we went out in spite of very wet wx..Allyn, Skip and myself. Allyn and I both had recent new used bikes that had not been ridden yet.
I was anxious to see how mine was going to be after doing major jetting changes since purchase. Not to mention changing up from the big old 525 to this spry 200 2 stroke.
I knew there was good reason I missed my old 2 stroke, ahh!

Skip's 450X sneaking into the pic on the far left, Allyn's new '05 Beta 525. center and my 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Jack Piner PENTON tribute 200 EXC on the right

Actually, we were sweating up a storm. Fantastic ride day...no dust, mud and nobody was out.

Good stuff! What are your impressions of the bikes? HTM, I'm curious how the Beta chassis is compared to the KTM you were riding. Also curious how yzfcathy likes the 2-stroke!

I decided since this one only had 208 miles, I was going to get it to be "mine". Thus, I spent the money to have it revalved and such. It has the same forks as the BMW 450X which are a bit harsh, so we put in the Racetech Gold Valves. What I can say so far is it stays very planted. Some of that might have been the conditions yesterday, perfect. It also seems super skinny which is good, but the seat is hard as a rock. It came with 15-45 gearing so I went 13-50. It has the stupid FCR bog so I ordered the JD kit which shortens up the pump diaphragm and has a better needle than stock. Once that is done I think I will be very very happy.

I can hardly believe I've been off a 2 stroke so long. Used to be all I rode...then after moving to the desert I figured I would wring out the guts of a little 2T so got the big 'ol 525. Man, what was I thinking, I love this 2 stroke. Light, nimble and suprisingly good low end if I feel like chug a lug luggin up the tough stuff.

I am enjoying squirting in and out of the corners with a twist of the wrist. Feels like the good old days of my little 125.
Life is good!
