Ducati Issue - UPDATE !

Ducati Regional Tech flew in to the dealer today. Lo and behold they found a wire going to the high beem that is unshielded, and it touched couple things around it that shorted out the fuses/circuits in question.

So, they phoned me today and said they are pretty sure that is the only issue, but they are giving the entire bike a check over just to be safe... so, I may have it back Friday or Saturday.

All in all, not a problem.

Barry

What do you mean not a problem.

Since then Steverino went on a weeks cruise, broke his bike, got a new one and already had DD mod it. And your just finding out about yours. That's piss poor customer service.

I was sure that you would get the obvious mods like the 16T front sprocket, jet kit, pipes, etc. but the cee baileys windscreen just became available within the last several months and has made a huge difference in the buffeting caused by the low pressure situation with the stock flyscreen. BTW, the CB windscreen with naca style ducts has a headlight protector built in. I got the lightly smoked 15" so I could see over instead of through it.

Barry,

congrats on your dealings with DNA. I was thinking about setting up a shin dig at my place in the next several weeks and having a rain date in case you wanted to come because appparently Duc's don't like water!

I have put a couple K on my Cee Bailey's seat - bought it for $260 from a local off MRN - it rocks. Have 55K on my Cee Bailey's windsheild too, still looks new - took it off my old RT, put it on the new one - me likes.

Hey, they make jet canopies. You would think they are made to withstand sever conditions and extremes. Not to mention repeated washings by ham fisted mechanics/crew. Not that there is anything wrong with being ham fisted or anything.

Am I happy that a brand-new bike stranded me, and would I expect that to be an issue? Hell no.

Did the manufacturer fly someone in to address my problem, did the dealer put my bike in front of 40+ other bikes scheduled for service? Yes.

Should I have been kept a little more informed so that I knew exactly what hoops the dealer and DNA were jumping through? Hell yes. And I told the dealer that in no uncertain terms.

Am I glad it was something as stupid and generic as an unshielded wire, that could happen on a Euro, Jap, or HD bike? Yes.

I'm still waiting to hear if DNA is going to reimburse me for my time/aggravation/$$$ out of pocket. They should, and I've told them that. DNA is painfully aware of just how unhappy I am about this entire episode.

All in all, the dealer is only guilty of what others I've dealt with are guilty of... lack of communication. I see it at work, saw it with my local KTM dealer, saw it with the builder who built my house. Mis-communication or lack of communication is where problems arise, misperception occurs, bad feelings are created, man hours are wasted, etc.
