It's also the way I find things I had been saving. Usually I can't find them when I need them, but no problem after I buy another one.

They were shelves in the spare bedroom, removed them 14-15 years ago. Been tripping over them since.

Found this on a friend's bike so I dicided to film it for a future video. The repair was fairly involved.
![]() ![]() Pulled it with home made tools, the owner made them for this. ![]() We also replaced the seal, so the FD needed to be pulled further apart. ![]() The Final Drive with the guts out. ![]() New seal installed, and the components reassembled. ![]() Pressing in the new flange, this one is steel instead of alloy. ![]() New flange installed. I also replaced the outside seal: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Took most of the day due to filming and tool modifications, but I think it was worth it. Jim

I scored today on a second sled.76 Polaris Colt for $250. Virtualy the same as my Apollo. Chassis is way better but the engine I think was under water and not cleaned out. Pulled the case drain bolts and rust coloured gas came out. Crank bearings are shot. So today I pulled the engine and gonna swap with my good one after I switch for some better parts and set the points up then install tomorrow. I'll make sure I post pics tomorrow.

Down here (New Zealand) we have a "class" ( I use this term loosely) of racing bikes called "buckets", general rules are 125cc two stroke or 150cc four stroke built from anything that is not race based ie: not mx engines or gp bikes. We race them on go-kart tracks so speeds are low but they are generally in the 20 to 40 hp range. Needless to say they vary from very well built to things that look dangerous to approach, scrutineering is taken from the "looks ok from across the street" approach to life.
It is great racing, real banging fairings and elbows with guaranteed crashing in every race, a great training ground for real racing. Anyway, my bikes a Suzuki GP125, 1981 commuter.... handling is at best "interesting". I'm currently fitting a later model front end (1984!) which actually has rims you can get tires for and a disc that actually slows you down, a huge improvement! In a complete contrast to Jims' (and others) impeccable repairs there are a few problems with swopping the front end, the bearings don't really fit the headstock very well so I'm resorting to JB weld to absorb the diameter differences. Remarkably this seems to be working and should be good for the weekends racing, I will get some steel spacers made after that! Sorry, no pics as I don't run a smug mug account, use your imagination. I'll report back if I survive the weekend!
