R100GS...anyone adapt/running a different 21" wheel?

BMWusaberg discussion brought up not only the heavy weight but also price of the BMW wheel.

Is anyone running another dirtbike wheel (not tire) and brake disc up front that would be willing to share? I have an R80g/s that could use the R100gs forks but the wheel is usually 500 used and the brake disc is another 200?

I may just be dreaming... but you folks are resourceful!

I'd just call one of the aftermarket hub manufacturers (RAD mfg comes to mind) and tell them the axle OD, the full width of the hub and spacers, and diameter and position of the disc in relation to the face of the right side spacer. Go spend some quality time out in the garage with your calipers.

Heaps of machining went into the aftermarket hub, a very big job. The link to the build is in my sig line.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I'd guess that a RAD manufacturing too, and it's what I'm hoping to do with the four pot Brembo. Any chance you could get the details from your builder?

AW I'd get the calipers out if I had the forks.... I'm in the research before buying phase. I'm a school teacher and there's been no pay for the last two months. End of August will be a pittance.

The RAD wheel is likely to be as much in price as the R100GS used wheel, but weight savings and NEW is nice.

walking bear was parting out a RGS maybe he would negotiate, listed it at $500 maybe a disc with it???? But you'd be scrapping the rim I suppose so that may not be what you want.

here's what I did..if you're lucky enough to find just the hub. I still have an extra hub to lace to another wheel just haven't done it yet.....$$$$$$$...and no it's not for sale. Think the hub was about $200. Stock GS hub laced to and excell rim, that way all the rest is OEM BMW. Keeps it simple. Still gonna cost some bucks, as the rim was about $200, plus the lacing, spokes and disc.

You could also go full front swap with dr650 forks, or some Kyb forks etc. but then you may or may not need a set of triples
